Pelacakan Gambar Cadas di Pulau Jawa: Studi atas Beberapa Gua di Zona Poros Ponjong-Rongkop, Karst Gunungsewu

Selama ini, budaya gambar cadas diperkirakan tidak pernah berkembang di Pulau Jawa. Hal ini dikarenakan nihilnya jejak gambar cadas di wilayah ini. Akan tetapi, melalui survei arkeologi tahun 2025, ditemukan adanya indikasi gambar cadas pada Song Bentar. Dengan adanya temuan tersebut, maka dilakukan penelitian eksploratif pada gua-gua di sekitar Song Bentar untuk melacak kemungkinan ditemukannya indikasi lain. Selain itu, dilakukan juga analisis karakterisasi Raman untuk memastikan bahwa pigmen pada indikasi tersebut memang berasal dari pigmen arkeologis (hematite) dan bukan pigmen modern (cat) atau proses geogenik. Penelitian ini menunjukkan keberadaan penggunaan oker merah (hematite) pada pigmen indikasi gambar cadas di Song Bentar. Meskipun belum ditemukan adanya indikasi gambar cadas pada gua-gua lain, temuan ini cukup menjadi fakta baru bahwa Pulau Jawa bukanlah wilayah yang terpisah dari peta persebaran budaya gambar cadas di Indonesia.

Until recently, cave art was generally assumed to have never developed in Java Island, due to the lack of material evidence. However, based on archaeological surveys in 2025, identified possible traces of cave art at Song Bentar. In response to this discovery, an exploratory investigation was carried out in nearby caves to trace the potential for further evidence. In addition, Raman spectroscopic characterization was applied to verify whether the pigments were indeed archaeological (hematite/ochre) rather than modern paint or geogenic staining. This research confirms the use of red ochre (hematite) as the pigment at the Song Bentar’s cave art indication. Although no further indications of rock art were identified in other surveyed caves, this finding provides crucial new evidence
