Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali jawaban dari tradisi postfenomenologi terhadap kritik yang dilontarkan oleh gelombang palingan linguistik (linguistic turn) dalam filsafat teknologi, terutama yang ditujukan kepada tradisi postfenomenologi itu sendiri. Palingan linguistik dalam filsafat teknologi dibaca sebagai perluasan fokus penyelidikan filsafat teknologi. Konsekuensinya, peran materi di dalam dunia saintifik dan dunia kehidupan (lifeworld) terdiskreditkan. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan posisi postfenomenologi yang ternyata cukup berseberangan dengan gelombang palingan linguistik dalam filsafat teknologi, dengan menunjukkan komitmen terhadap analisis materi dan relasi manusia-teknologi.
Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kepustakaan. Dalam penelitian ini Gelombang palingan linguistik dalam filsafat teknologi menjadi objek material, sementara objek formal penelitian ini adalah tradisi postfenomenologi material. Penelitian ini berjalan dengan tiga tahap, yakni Inventarisasi dan kategorisasi, analisis dan deskripsi, dan penyusunan hasil, dengan menggunakan lima unsur metodis, yakni kesinambungan historis, heuristika, koherensi intern, interpretasi, dan deskripsi.
Hasil penyelidikan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan ketidaksesuaian konseptual yang mendasar antara tradisi pemikiran postfenomenologi yang dikembangkan oleh tokoh-tokoh seperti Don Ihde, Peter-Paul Verbeek, hingga Robert Rosenberger dengan semangat gelombang palingan linguistik dalam filsafat teknologi yang dibawa oleh Mark Coeckelbergh, David Kaplan, hingga Wessel Reijers. Adapun temuan utama penelitian ini di antaranya adalah, pertama, pendekatan postfenomenologi tidak niscaya untuk ditambah dengan domain linguistik dan diskursus filsafat bahasa sebagai proses penyelidikan utama. Kedua, persinggungan kedua kutub ini menggeser fokus hermeneutika tradisional yang cenderung tekstual-linguistik menjadi hermeneutika material. Ketiga, usulan skema teori mediasi yang berusaha menambahkan bahasa sebagai mediator relasi manusia-dunia bersama teknologi tidak memungkinkan untuk diterima.
This research aims to explore the answers of the postphenomenological tradition to the criticisms raised by the linguistic turn wave in the philosophy of technology, especially those aimed at the postphenomenology tradition itself. The linguistic turn in the philosophy of technology is read as an expansion of the focus of research in the philosophy of technology. Consequently, the role of matter in the scientific world and the lifeworld is discredited. This research shows the position of postphenomenology which is quite at odds with the linguistic turn wave in the philosophy of technology, which shows a commitment to the analysis of material and human-technology relations.
The method used in this research is a literature study. In this study, the linguistic wave in the philosophy of technology becomes the material object, while the formal object of this research is the tradition of postphenomenology. This research proceeds in three stages: inventory and categorization, analysis and description, and compilation of results, using five methodological elements: historical continuity, heuristics, internal coherence, interpretation, and description.
The results of this research show a fundamental conceptual incompatibility between the postphenomenology thought tradition developed by figures such as Don Ihde, Peter-Paul Verbeek, and Robert Rosenberger with the spirit of the linguistic turn wave in the philosophy of technology brought by Mark Coeckelbergh, David Kaplan, and Wessel Reijers. In summary, this study find that, first, the postphenomenology approach is not necessarily supplemented with the linguistic domain and discourse of the philosophy of language as the main research process. Second, the intersection of these two poles shifts the focus of traditional hermeneutics which tends to be textual-linguistic to material hermeneutics. Third, the proposal of a mediation theory scheme that attempts to add language as a mediator of human-world relations with technology is not possible to be accepted.
