Sukoharjo regency possesses diverse potential resource sectors, particularly in the industrial sector, which plays a significant role in regional economic growth. This economic growth is evidenced by the 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), where the manufacturing industry dominates as the leading sector. The expansion of the industrial activities has increased the demand for Industrial Allocation Zones to serve as economic growth centers. The establishment of industrial areas requires appropriate land suitability to support operational activities while minimizing negative impacts on society and the environment. This aligns with the designation of the Kawasan Industri Nguter (KIN) as the industrial center. However, its development has not progressed optimally, as many industrial activities are still located outside the area. This issue may be caused by land that is not suitable for industrial development. Geospatial analysis using Geographic Information System (GIS) can be used to assess land suitability for industrial allocation zones based on spatial data.
This research refers to spatial data covering eight criteria from the Regulation of the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 30 of 2020, which include slope, soil type, land use, distance to main transportation networks, distance to river networks, distance to electricity networks, distance to telecommunication networks, and distance to residential areas. Spatial data processing was conducted using QGIS software, while the importance of each criterion was determined through the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), implemented to determine the relative importance of each criterion and sub-criterion using SuperDecision software, resulting in a consistency ratio (CR) of 0,038.
The analysis produced a land suitability map in Sukoharjo Regency for industrial allocation zones, with a classification of 5 classes: S1 (highly suitable), S2 (moderately suitable), S3 (marginally suitable), N1 (currently not suitable), and N2 (permanently not suitable). These results were used to evaluate the land suitability of the established Kawasan Industri Nguter (KIN) as an industrial allocation zone. The evaluation showed that the percentage of suitable area reached 71,19%, significantly larger than the unsuitable area, which was 28,81%. Additionally, alternative locations that can be developed as industrial zones in Sukoharjo Regency were identified, covering an area of 9.459,945 hectares. The suitability analysis was also integrated with the 2011 – 2031 Spatial Plan (RTRW) of Sukoharjo Regency, indicating a suitable area of 1.790,602 hectares. Further analysis was conducted on existing industries, showing that 62 out of 156 industries are located within the industrial allocation zone, while 94 other industries are not within the industrial allocation zones. The land suitability map for industrial allocation zones in Sukoharjo Regency is presented through a web map.
