Hasrat Mimetik dan Akumulasi Modal dalam Novel Une façon d'aimer Karya Dominique Barbéris

Penelitian ini mengkaji hasrat mimetik dan akumulasi modal yang melekat pada Madeleine sebagai tokoh utama dan beberapa karakter sampingan dalam novel Prancis berjudul Une façon d’aimer (2023). Novel karya Dominique Barbéris ini menceritakan tentang kehidupan tokoh utama di masa lampau melalui perspektif narator orang ketiga serba tahu. Narasi yang secara berkala menampilkan kepingan kisah Madeleine membawa pada sebuah rahasia bahwa Madeleine pernah berhubungan dengan laki-laki yang bukan suaminya. Peristiwa tersebut patut diselidiki guna memastikan hasrat tersebut berasal dari diri Madeleine atau bukan. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mencapai dua tujuan, Pertama untuk menganalisis bagaimana peniruan hasrat terjadi pada Madeleine. Kedua untuk memetakan bagaimana modal berperan dalam membentuk lingkungan tempat peniruan hasrat. Penulis memakai dua teori dari dalam proses analisis. Teori hasrat mimetik dari René Girard digunakan untuk analisis praktik dan gejala peniruan hasrat individu. Kemudian, teori strukturalisme genetik yang dikembangkan Pierre Bourdieu membantu untuk menelaah habitus, modal, dan arena dari lingkungan serta tiap tokoh sentral yang membentuk perilaku individu-individu. Penelitian ini dapat menemukan bahwa Madeleine mengalami peniruan hasrat yang disebabkan oleh orang lain. Dalam perilakunya, Madeleine memenuhi syarat untuk dapat ditetapkan menjadi subjek yang menginginkan objek melalui perantara mediator. Penemuan selanjutnya adalah dalam perilaku peniruan hasrat yang Madeleine lakukan, lingkungan serta realitas sosial turut berperan dalam pembentukan diri Madeleine dan diri tokoh-tokoh di sekitarnya.

This study explores the mimetic desire and accumulation of capital found in Madeleine, the main character, and several supporting characters in the french novel entitled Une façon d’aimer (2023). Dominique Barbéris' novel tells the story of the main character's past life through the perspective of an omniscient third-person narrator. The narrative, which periodically reveals fragments of Madeleine's story, leads to a secret that Madeleine once had a relationship with a man who was not her husband. This event warrants investigation to determine whether the desire originated from Madeleine herself or not. Thus, this study aims to achieve two objectives. First, to analyze how the imitation of desire occurs in Madeleine. Second, to map how capital plays a role in shaping the environment where desire is imitated. The author uses two theories in the analysis process. René Girard's theory of mimetic desire is used to analyze the practices and symptoms of individual desire imitation. Additionally, Pierre Bourdieu's theory of genetic structuralism helps to examine the habitus, capital, and arena of the environment, as well as each central character that shapes individual behavior. This study found that Madeleine experienced desire imitation caused by others. In her behavior, Madeleine meets the criteria to be designated as a subject desiring an object through an intermediary mediator. Another finding is that in the desire imitation behavior Madeleine exhibits, the environment and social reality also play a role in shaping Madeleine's identity and the identities of the characters around her.
