Recent research has shown that the concept of classical ruin theory can be modified under the condition that a company is declared to be ruin if its surplus is negative either at the beginning or the end of the given implementation period, where this period follows an Erlang distribution. Based on the financial health regulations for insurance companies in Indonesia, using ruin theory, this research attempts to calculate the probability of a company that has previously experienced failed to pay some claims being able to return to the financial health regulated by the IFSA. For the Erlang-distributed implementation period, this study analyzes the surplus process using the compound Poisson risk model and obtains an explicit formula for the Gerber-Shiu function, resulting in the Laplace transform and the probability of the modified ruin model occurring. Numerical illustrations are also provided to depict the behavior of the modified model. At the end of the research, an alternative calculation is provided for cases of claims distributed as a combination of exponentials.
