Film Horor dalam Festival Film Indonesia, 1980an - 2010an

Film sebagai bentuk hiburan masyarakat Indonesia dimulai pada tahun 1950an. Namun, film genre horor baru mulai mendapatkan perhatian dan antusiasme masyarakat pada dekade 1980an. Skripsi ini mengkaji tentang perkembangan film horor Indonesia sejak 1980an yang merupkan puncak kejayaan genre tersebut, hingga tahun 2010an, ketika genre horor memperoleh apresiasi yang belum pernah didapatkan sebelumnya. Apresiasi yang menjadi topik utama dalam penelitian ini adalah penyelenggaraan Festival Film Indonesia. Sejak dekade 1980, film horor telah turut berpartisipasi dalam penyelenggaraan Festival Film Indonesia. Akan tetapi, keterlibatan pada dekade tersebut tidak sebesar keterlibatannya pada tahun 2000an dan 2010an. Sumber yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari surat kabar dan majalah sezaman, kemudian juga ada arsip Festival Film Indonesia yang diperoleh dari website resmi Festival Film Indonesia, film-film horor, berita online sezaman dan website terkait perfilman Indonesia. Kesimpulan dari skripsi ini adalah perubahan tema dan ciri khas genre film horor di Indonesia memiliki dampak terhadap antusiasme masyarakat untuk menonton film dan juga mendorong film horor mendapatkan apresiasi yang belum pernah diraih sebelumnya.

Film began to appear in Indonesia as an entertainment since the 1950s. However, horror films only start to gained a lot of public attention in the 1980s. This thesis focus on the development of Indonesian horror films from 1980s --a period which was considered as the peak of this genre-- until 2010s, when this genre gained an unprecedented level of recognition and appreciation in the Indonesian film industry. The focus of appreciation in this thesis is the one reflected through Indonesian Film Festival. Since the 1980s, horror films have participated in the Indonesian Film Festival. Nevertheless, the involvement during that time was not as great as it become during the 21st century. Sources used in this research were acquired from newspaper and magazine from the same period, this thesis also used the Indonesian Film Festival archives, online news platforms, and Indonesian film websites. It is concluded that the transformation in thematic elements and genre of Indonesia horror films has significantly influenced public recognition that had not been previously attained.
