Keterkaitan Tokoh dan Latar pada Alur Novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop (Eoseooseyo, Hyunamdong Seojeomimnida): Kajian Strukturalisme

Penelitian ini membahas fakta cerita novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop (Eoseooseyo, Hyunamdong Seojeomimnida) mengguakan teori strukturalisme Robert Stanton (2022). Fakta cerita terdiri dari (1) tokoh, (2) latar, dan (3) alur. Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan keterkaitan antara tokoh dan latar pada alur novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop (Eoseooseyo, Hyunamdong Seojeomimnida). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif.

Hasil analisis menunjukkan tokoh di dalam novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop (Eoseooseyo, Hyunamdong Seojeomimnida) terdiri atas tokoh utama dan tokoh tambahan. Terdapat tiga tokoh utama, yaitu Lee Yeong-Ju, Hyun Seung-Woo, dan Min-Jun. Terdapat delapan tokoh tambahan, yaitu Chang-In, Tae-Woo, Jimmy, Hee-Ju/Ibu Min-Cheol, Min-Cheol, Jeong-Seo, Yoon Seong-Cheol, dan Sang-Su. Novel ini memiliki alur campuran, yaitu terdapat alur progresif dan alur kilas balik. Latar tempat yang terdapat di dalam novel ini yaitu Toko Buku Hyunam-dong, rumah Yeong-Ju, bar, restoran khusus ikan pollack, kedai teh tradisional, dan Goatbean. Ditemukan (2) latar waktu di dalam novel ini, yaitu pukul tiga sore dan hari Jumat. Setiap tokoh dan latar yang terdapat di dalam novel ini saling berkaitan dengan alur yang ada sehingga menjadi satu cerita yang padu. Lee Yeong-Ju menjadi tokoh yang paling banyak berkaitan dengan alur sedangkan latar tempat Toko Buku Hyunam-dong menjadi latar yang paling berkaitan dengan alur di dalam novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop (Eoseooseyo, Hyunamdong Seojeomimnida).

This research discusses story facts of the Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop novel using Robert Stanton’s structuralism theory. Story facts consist of (1) character, (2) background, and (3) plot. This research’s purposes is to explains the connection between characters and setting to the plot of the novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. 

The analysis result shows that the characters in the novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop consist of main or central characters and additional or peripheral character. There is three main characters, Lee Yeong-Ju, Hyun Seung-Woo, and Min-Jun and there is eight additional characters, Chang-In, Tae-Woo, Jimmy, Hee-Ju/Ibu Min-Cheol, Min-Cheol, Jeong-Seo, Yoon Seong-Cheol, dan Sang-Su. Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop novel has mixed plot, which consist progressive and flashback plot. There are six setting of places in this novel, Hyunam-dong Bookshop, Yeong-Ju’s house, bar, pollack specialty restaurant, traditional tea house, and Goatbean. There are two setting of time in this novel, 3pm and Friday. Lee Yeong-Ju is the most related character to the plot while the setting of place, the Hyunam-dong Bookshop is the most related setting to the plot in the novel Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop.
