The Trans Semarang application is one form of effort to improve public services, especially the BRT Trans Semarang service. The existence of this application enables the public to access information about BRT Trans Semarang such as fleet schedules, route and corridor information, live fleet GPS tracking, ticket prices, route recommendations, and traffic conditions in the city of Semarang. This research aims to understand the profile of the Trans Semarang application, how the utilization of the Trans Semarang application supports smart mobility in the city of Semarang, and to formulate policy recommendations regarding the optimization of the Trans Semarang system in supporting smart mobility in the city of Semarang. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. Primary data collection in this research was conducted using in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and field observations. The secondary data in this research was obtained by exploring and documenting the Trans Semarang application related to the features and services provided.
The Trans Semarang application includes a Passenger Information System used to access Trans Semarang service information as well as a reference for planning trips using Trans Semarang fleet. The most frequently used features are the All Bus, Route Info, and Nearby Bus features. Although facing challenges such as network latency and dependence on user signal conditions, the existing features have met user needs. Optimization strategies for the Trans Semarang system include application development with feature additions (passenger count and dark mode), improving route recommendation efficiency, and adding digital wallet partnerships. The improvement in the quality of Trans Semarang infrastructure focuses on reducing the headway of the fleet and transitioning the public to cashless transactions.
