The Folklore Content Commodification Practice in Online Game (Content Analysis on Mobile Legends Bang Bang Hero)

Saat berbicara mengenai dunia hiburan,  maka game merupakan salah satu cabangnya. Salah satu game yang popular di Indonesia merupakan Mobile Legends Bang Bang. Mobile Legends Bang Bang merupakan game yang dikembangkan oleh Moonton yang mana game ini tercatat sebagai game popular kedua di Indonesia serta merupakan salah satu game yang dipertandingkan di ajang Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON 2021). Disamping itu, peneliti berasumsi  bahwa terdapat beberapa praktik komodifikasi  isi/pesan cerita rakyat pada hero mobile Legends Bang Bang. Sebagai bentuk tindak lanjut, peneliti melaksanakan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk memperdalam terkait bagaimana Mobile Legends Bang Bang melaksanakan praktik komodifikasi isi/pesan cerita kepada hero mereka. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan menggunakan metode analisis isi kualitatif.  Hasil mengemukakan bahwasanya dari keseluruhan 124 hero, 43 diantaranya merupakan buah dari komodifikasi isi/pesan cerita rakyat ditinjau dari beberapa aspek yakni nama, penampilan fisik, tema, cerita, kemampuan, dan klaim atau pernyataan resmi dari fandom Mobile Legend Bang Bang.

When we talk about entertainment, it is not strange when we hear the word game. One of the most famous game in Indonesia is known as Mobile Legends Bang Bang. Mobile Legends Bang Bang is the games developed by Moonton which was recorded as the second best game in Indonesia and become one of the games which is played in National Sport Week 2021 (PON 2021). Besides, research suspect that there is some content commodification practice of folklore on Mobile Legends Bang Bang hero which become the background and foundation of the research. As a response to that assumption, writer conduct the research to dig deeper regarding how Mobile Legends Bang Bang applicated content commodification of folklore to their hero. The research will be conduct with qualitative content analysis method. the results reveal that from 124 hero of Mobile Legends Bang Bang, 43 of them is part of folklore content commodification according to several aspects like name, physical appearance, theme , story, skill, and claim. Furthermore, researcher discuses several hero folklore content commodification detail in chapter four for country/group of country which have notable relation with Mobile Legends Bang Bang
