This article provides a study that discuss the representation of diaspora communities presented in the film genre called diasporic cinema and how cinema can facilitate voices to be brought with agency to challenges the dominant narratives of status quo that repressed film medium that intertwined with neo-orientalism paradigm that affects the political process behind the film production itself. In this research article, film can be overlooked as beacon of voices for its political function and to offer a justification to tackle the basic assumption of political film that often seems like a propaganda instrument. However, this research wants to deep dive into the possibilities of film as a medium to initiate the narratives transition to see subaltern subject with alternative emancipatory movement with the framing of premises.
