STRATEGI TINDAKAN SUBJEK DALAM DUA POLICE NOVEL LEBIH PUTIH DARIKU KARYA DIDO MICHIELSEN: KAJIAN RANCIÈRIAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji strategi tindakan subjek dalam meraih kesetaraan pada dua police novel Lebih Putih Dariku (LPD) karya Dido Michielsen. Dalam penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif analisis. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, kalimat, dan paragraf yang mengindikasikan konsep police, demos, politik, dan subjek politik yang terdapat dalam novel LPD. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam novel LPD terdapat dua police, yaitu police keraton yang dibentuk berdasarkan arkhe keturunan serta police Hindia Belanda yang dibentuk berdasarkan arkhe warna kulit atau ras kulit putih. Pada police keraton, kelompok yang berstatus sebagai demos adalah mereka yang berperan sebagai abdi dalem. Sebagai demos, mereka tampak berstrategi untuk bisa memverifikasi kesetaraannya, seperti tampak saat Piranti berusaha untuk merebut Suko kembali dari tangan Karsinah sebagai representasi police dominan serta keputusannya untuk keluar dari police keraton. Namun, karena police dominan bisa membuat demos tetap berada di posisinya, cita-cita kesetaraan tersebut tidak pernah tercapai. Di sisi lain, sebagai orang Jawa, mereka yang berstatus sebagai demos ini tampak sangat terhegemoni oleh norma dan budaya keraton sebagai semesta kehidupan mereka. Adapun pada police Hindia Belanda, kelompok yang berstatus sebagai demos adalah mereka yang berperan sebagai nyai. Sebagai demos, mereka tampak memiliki kesadaran penuh tentang posisinya dalam police—mereka berusaha menyusun strategi untuk melakukan tindakan politik, seperti tampak saat Isah berusaha untuk bertahan di rumah Arnold dan Lot, berusaha merebut hak asuh Pauline dan Louis sehingga statusnya sebagai nyai bisa berubah menjadi seorang ibu, serta upaya Canting dalam menentang logika police dengan cara membukukan kisah hidup Isah. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa Isah sudah bermigrasi dari orang Jawa yang terhegemoni oleh norma dan budaya menjadi warga Hindia Belanda yang memiliki keleluasaan untuk bergerak, walaupun statusnya tetaplah demos. Meski demikian, dengan maraknya politik semu, seperti fenomena pernikahan antara orang totok dan nyainya serta transformasi teori ras atau warna kulit sebagai sebuah arkhe, hal ini membuktikan bahwa police Hindia Belanda merupakan police yang kuat dan tertutup. Selain itu, kuat dan tertutupnya police Hindia Belanda ini juga tampak dari tidak terbentuknya subjek politik sebagai sebuah gerakan kolektif.

 

This research’s aim is to scruntinize the subject acts strategies in achieving equality in the two polices as depicted in Dido Michielsen’s Lebih Putih Dariku (LPD) . The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. The data in this research are either words, sentences, and paragraphs that indicate the concepts of police, demos, politics, and political subject found in LPD. The result of this study indicates two polices were found in the novel, those are the palace police and Dutch East Indies police. Palace police was formed based on descent arkhe, and Dutch East Indies based on skin colour or white race arkhe. The demos in the palace police are those who serve as courtiers. As demos, they appear to be strategic in order to verify their equality, as portrayed in Piranti’s attempt to reclaim Suko from Karsinah as a representation of the dominant police, and her decision to leave the palace police. However, since the dominant police could keep the demos in its place, the dream of ideal equality was never achieved. Furthermore, as Javanese, those in the demos appear to be heavily hegemonised by the norms and culture of the palace as their big universe. As for the Dutch East Indies police, the group of demos were those who played the role of nyai. As demos, they appear to be fully aware of their position in the police–they manage to arrage political action strategies, as seen in Isah’s attempt to stay in Arnold and Lot’s house, her desire to win custody of Pauline and Louis so that her status as nyai can be changed to that of a mother, and not to mention Canting’s resistance to the logic of the police by writing Isah’s life story. Nonetheless, with the rise of pseudo-politics, such as the phenomenon of marriage between totok and his mistress, and the transformation of the theory of race or skin colour as an arkhe, this proves that the Dutch East Indies police are strong and closed police. In addition, the strength and closedness of the Dutch East Indies police is also evident in the failure to construct nyai as a political subject in the term of a collective movement.
