The COVID-19 pandemic can negatively impact many aspects of life, including social, economic, cultural, and spiritual. The negative impact includes helplessness and hopelessness based on declining conditions (financial, physical, mental, etc.) and stressful situations. Chinatown Glodok, known as the center of Jakarta's commercial district, has been significantly negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The government imposes new policies in the handling and prevention of COVID-19 that will have a direct impact on the community's recovery and adaptation capabilities. The policies taken by the government are PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions) and PPKM (Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities). These policies require the community to adjust both during and after the pandemic. Resilience needs to be improved by the people of Chinatown Glodok to be able to adapt optimally.
The research objective is to explain the resilience characteristics of the Glodok Chinatown community and identify the factors that influence it during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This research uses mixed methods, namely qualitative with descriptive analysis for the first research objective and qualitative with factor analysis for the second research objective. The adaptive groups formed in the Glodok Chinatown community are high, medium, and low. The resilience groups are frequency of adaptation actions in implementing health protocols and traveling mobility. The Glodok Chinatown community tends to have resilience characteristics such as insightful, initiative, creative, independent, caring (during the pandemic), and insightful, cooperative, and creative (post-pandemic). Individual and environmental factors are the two main factors that influence resilience. Individual factors of resilience are the ability to make meaning, spirituality, resource utilization, clarity of information, and sharing feelings. The tendency to give great influence is resource utilization (during the pandemic) and spirituality (post-pandemic). Environmental factors are community networks, people-place connections, creative economic efforts, community infrastructure, and stakeholder participation. The tendency to give great influence is creative economic efforts (during the pandemic) and community infrastructure (post-pandemic).
