petani rempah lansia perempuan memaknai kerja mereka. Sedangkan konsep kesejahteraan

The increasing population of the elderly poses a significant social challenge in many

countries, including Indonesia. This highlights the importance of attention to the role and

experiences of the elderly in the workforce. It is known that many elderly individuals are engaged

in informal sector work, such as the case of elderly female spice farmers in the Asri Women

Farmers Group partnering with Agradaya. This makes elderly spice farmers a particularly

vulnerable group, especially elderly women who tend to experience longer vulnerable periods.

This study utilizes a qualitative method with a narrative approach, specifically Narrative

Thematic Analysis. The concept of the meaning of work for elderly women within the framework

of subjective well-being will depict the reality of elderly women who are working. In this research,

the concept of the meaning of work for the elderly will be used to illustrate how elderly female

spice farmers perceive their work. Meanwhile, the concept of subjective well-being among the

elderly will examine the various forms of well-being among elderly individuals who are working.

Additionally, this study also connects the concept of informal job suitability as a consideration in

understanding the meaning of work and subjective well-being among the elderly.

The study finds diverse meanings of work among elderly female spice farmers. They

perceive work as a valuable use of leisure time, a means to build positive relationships, a platform

for self-actualization, and an expression of happiness. Aspects of well-being such as independence,

participation, social protection, and self-esteem are well fulfilled when they are working. This

indicates that elderly participation in the workforce contributes to fulfilling various aspects of

elderly well-being.
