Hubungan Antara Stimulasi Dengan Masalah Perilaku dan Emosional Anak Usia Prasekolah di Kecamatan Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta

Background: Previous study states that 25% of parents do not provide stimulation to their children. Stimulation is one of the factors causing emotional and behavioral disorder. It is known that 7 out of 71 preschool in Indonesia experience emotional and behavioral disorder. Emotional and behavioral disorder causes a child to become less confident, have no character, lack of skills, be more aggressive, more irritable and lonely.
Objective: The main purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between stimulation and emotional and behavioral disorder in preschool children in Depok District, Sleman, Yogyakarta.
Method: The study is an observational study with a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional research design. The subjects of this research are parent with children aged 3-6 in Depok District, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Sample determination was carried out using the Cluster Sampling and Consecutive Sampling methods involving 100 respondents from three villages, namely Maguwoharjo Village, Condongcatur Village, and Caturtunggal Village in December 2023. The instrument used is Early Childhood HOME (Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment) Inventory to measure stimulation and PPSC (Preschool Pediatric Symptom Checklist) which is used to measure emotional and behavioral disorder. Hypothesis results were determined by the Fisher's Exact Test
Result: More than 60% of respondents provided stimulation in the adequate to poor category and the remainder provided stimulation in the good category. 37% of children are at risk of emotional and behavioral disorder and the rest are not at risk of experiencing emotional and behavioral disorder. Based on the results of the analysis with Fisher's Exact Test, the P value = 0.000 or P value < 0>Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, the most of parents in Depok District, Sleman, Yogyakarta provide middle half and lowest fourth stimulation. The most of preschool-aged children in Depok District, Sleman, Yogyakarta are not at risk of experiencing behavioral and emotional problems. There is a significant relationship between stimulation and behavioral and emotional problems
