How Gamified Terrorism Establishes A Hierarchy of Life: The Case of Christchurch, Halle and Buffalo Shooting

This article corroborates the usage of gamification elements in far-right lone wolf terrorism by contextualizing the case of Christchurch, Halle and Buffalo Shooting. It is a qualitative analysis of how gamification elements such as releasing manifestos, live-stream footage and posts on 4chan have led to establishing a hierarchy of human life. The hierarchy is illustrated in a pyramid diagram that showcases how the perpetrators of far-right extremist lone wolf terrorism view different groups of people. There is an urgent need to investigate the concept of the 'hierarchy of life' in the study of violent extremism in order to better understand the perspective and motivations of lone wolf terrorists.
