Indonesia is a country that has high potential in terms of marine and coastal areas that can create its own opportunities and challenges to be explored more deeply. An archipelago with an ocean area of more than 8 million square kilometers, a coastline length of 81,000 kilometers and a coastal population of 40 million. This makes the United Nation Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) mention that Indonesia's vast territorial waters are one of the wealth of the archipelago. Therefore, research and mapping activities must receive special attention in order to optimize the wealth of resources owned by Indonesia. In addition, natural disasters are certainly the main focus so that disaster mitigation can be carried out at several potential points that may occur from within the sea.
The problem that occurs in Indonesia is that technological development in the marine sector is relatively low and is considered to be left behind. In fact, about 20% of Indonesia's marine areas have only been mapped so there is still a range of 80% that has not been maximally explored. In this case, the government has an important role in making a sovereign maritime country in the future. A country that has the ability to create and improve marine infrastructure and the importance of understanding governance at sea. The need for sophisticated technological support in conducting research and mapping to explore the potentials that exist in it. In addition, preparing qualified human resources to operate the technology properly. This makes a great opportunity for marine survey equipment providers to help improve governance infrastructure at sea. Therefore, marine survey equipment providers are the answer in meeting the technological needs for conducting research and mapping at sea to be maximized.
This research aims to design a marine equipment business model and analyze its financial feasibility. This research used data collection methods, namely interview and observation. Interview were conducted with two interviewees from industry players and three interviewees from potential customers. Meanwhile, observation were made at two competitor companies in the marine equipment industry. The data obtained was used as a reference to design a marine equipment business model. The results of data collection are described through an empathy map and also a business model canvas. Based on the results of the financial feasibility analysis, under pessimistic conditions, the NPV is Rp5,216,607,922, the IRR is 34%, and the PP is 3 years and 1 month. Under normal conditions, the NPV amount to Rp14,888,087,998, IRR is 67%, and PP for 2 years and 3 month. While in optimistic conditions, the NPV is Rp22,156,922,173, IRR is 87%, and PP for 2 years. Thus is can be said that the design of this marine equipment business model is feasible to run.
