America is long considered as an exceptional entity constructed by its influence in global politics. However, America’s exceptional status has arguably experienced incremental erosion since its height during the post Cold-War era. This thesis will attempt to discern the fluctuations of American exceptionalism through the lens of the American film industry. By utilizing four films as the subject of assessment, namely; Red Dawn, The Hunt for Red October, GoldenEye, and No Time to Die, the thesis will emanate the reconfigurations of images that occurred. The time period in which the film was released also contributes to finding the different prevailing political sentiments that construct the idea of American exceptionalism and how it gradually wanes overtime.
