Hubungan Antara Tingkat Stres dan Keberagaman Asupan Makan Dengan Kejadian Anemia pada Remaja Putri Sekolah Menengah Atas/Sederajat di Kabupaten Jombang

Background: Nutritional intake is known to be one of associated factors of anemia. Nutritional intake can be affected by a person’s psychological stress condition. This is because psychological stress condition can lead to dietary changes. In addition, dietary diversity can influence the adequacy of nutritional intake.
Objective: To determine the association of stress levels and dietary diversity with anemia among female high school students in Jombang
Method: This is a cross sectional study on 220 female adolescents in 10 high schools in Jombang who were selected through simple random sampling. The data used in this study was obtained by filling out a characteristic questionnaire, perceived stress scale questionnaire, food recall 3x24H, dietary diversity score, and hemoglobin levels measurements. These data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test.
Result: Majority of female high school students has moderate both stress levels and dietary diversity (57,3%; 65%). 24,5% of female high school students experience anemia. There is no significant association between stress levels and anemia (p=0,174 dan r=-0,092). There is a significant association between stress levels and dietary diversity (p=0,014 dan r=-0,166). There is no significant association between dietary diversity and anemia (p=0,598 dan r=0,036).
Conclusion: There is a significant inverse association between stress levels and dietary diversity which means higher stress level is associated with lower dietary diversity and vice versa.
