The Representatin of Girlhood and Femininity in Netflix's Teen-Flick "Do Revenge"

Girlhood is one of the most important part of being a girl. It is a phase in life where girls start to find their footing in the world. However, this journey to find oneself comes with its own trials and tribulation. With society's tendency to point and laugh when it comes to conversations of femininity and girlhood, girls experience a struggle unfamiliar to most. The film genre of teen flicks often highlights these struggles, representing them with their own ideas and reflection of what femininity and girlhood is at the time. Do Revenge (2022) is one of the most recent products of the Hollywood staple, providing fresh representation for girls to see themselves as. This study was done in the hopes to see whether or not there has been advancement and/or development in the way girls, girlhood, and femininity are represented in the historically misogynistic and gender-biased industry. The research methods of qualitative content analysis were applied. This was done in hopes to analyze the films as it is with no outside interference. That being said, the research was able to provide results that show change in how films represents girls in films; providing hopes for the representation of girlhood and femininity.
