DI BALIK KEPUTUSAN CHILDFREE BERDASARKAN PERSPEKTIF PEREMPUAN

Fenomena childfree atau keputusan para perempuan untuk tidak memiliki anak di Indonesia hadir sebagai bentuk perubahan sosial yang menjadi diskursus menarik untuk studi-studi yang berkaitan dengan perubahan di masyarakat. Penelitian ini berbicara mengenai fenomena childfree sebagai bentuk keputusan para perempuan di Indonesia untuk tidak memiliki keturunan atau anak di tengah-tengah konstruksi sistem keluarga tradisional yang lekat dengan orientasi prokreasi. Berfokus pada perspektif perempuan, penelitian ini ingin menggali lebih dalam mengenai alasan dibalik keputusan childfree dan seperti apa pengalaman para perempuan childfree yang tentu saja terbentuk atas berbagai identitas (status sosial, kondisi ekonomi, wilayah geografis, tingkat pendidikan, nilai, budaya dan tradisi, usia, dan lain lain) dalam hidupnya. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah enam orang yang dikategorikan sebagai informan utama. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara, studi pustaka/literatur, dan dokumentasi. Hasil temuan data akan diuraikan dengan menggunakan analisis tematik yang berfokus pada penggalian tema-tema guna mengidentifikasi makna dari setiap pengalaman para informan childfree secara lebih dalam. Penelitian ini sarat akan metode kualitatif yang mengedepankan perspektif feminisme, sehingga digunakan teori feminisme interseksional atau interseksionalitas demi menjawab pertanyaan penelitian yakni “mengapa para perempuan memutuskan untuk menerapkan praktik childfree?”. Feminisme interseksional atau interseksionalitas akan membantu dalam mengkerangkai hasil temuan data dengan analisis yang memahami bahwa setiap perilaku dan keputusan individu dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman hidupnya, yang mana pengalaman tersebut terbentuk dari berbagai faktor atau identitas yang saling tumpang tindih. Dalam penelitian ini akan ditemukan berbagai alasan yang menjawab secara jelas pertanyaan penelitian berupa “mengapa” dan berbagai cerita para perempuan childfree dengan latar belakang yang beragam. Hasil penelitian ini terbagi ke dalam dua pembahasan besar yakni mengenai (1) cerita perjalanan para perempuan hingga sampai pada keputusannya untuk childfree dan (2) cerita di balik keputusan childfree yang sarat akan stigma yang melekat pada diri para perempuan childfree. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa mengapa para perempuan pada akhirnya memutuskan praktik childfree, karena dilandasi berbagai faktor yang tidak tunggal. Alasan yang tidak semata hanya dipengaruhi oleh dominasi salah satu faktor saja. Pengalaman para perempuan childfree yang saling tumpang tindih dan bersinggungan, pada akhirnya membentuk keputusan mereka untuk childfree.

The phenomenon of childfree or the decision of women not to have children in Indonesia exists as a form of social change which becomes an interesting discourse for studies related to changes in society. This research talks about the phenomenon of childfree as a form of women's decision in Indonesia not to have offspring or children amid the construction of a traditional family system attached to a procreative orientation. Focusing on women's perspectives, this study wants to dig deeper into the reasons behind decisions childfree and what is the experience of women childfree which of course is formed by various identities (social status, economic condition, geographical area, level of education, values, culture and traditions, age, etc.) in his life. Six informants in this study were categorized as main informants. Data collection in this study was carried out using interview techniques, literature/literature study, and documentation. The results of the data findings will be described using thematic analysis that focuses on extracting themes to identify the meaning of each informant's experience. This research is full of qualitative methods that put forward a feminist perspective so that the theory of intersectional or intersectional feminism is used to answer the research question, namely "Why do women decide to implement practice childfree?”. Sectional feminism or intersectionality will assist in framing data findings with analysis that understands that each individual's behavior and decisions are influenced by their life experiences, in which these experiences are formed from various factors or overlapping identities. In this research, various reasons will be found that answer the research question in the form of "why" and various stories of women childfree with diverse backgrounds. The results of this study are divided into two major discussions regarding (1) the stories of the women's journey to arriving at their decision to be childfree and (2) the story behind the decision childfree full of stigma attached to these women. It can be concluded that the women in the end decided to practice childfree because it is based on various factors that are not single. Reasons that are not solely influenced by the dominance of one factor only. Women experience childfree which overlap and intersect, in the end, shape their decision to be childfree.
