Proses Produksi Film Dokumenter tentang Kehidupan Lansia Pengguna Teknologi (Penulisan Naskah Film Dokumenter Luar Jaringan)

Demi menghadapi prediksi ledakan populasi lansia dan bonus demografi, kelompok lansia diharuskan untuk bisa beradaptasi dengan perkembangan teknologi yang cepat di era digitalisasi ini. Namun, lansia sebagai digital immigrants memiliki kesulitan yang bisa diatasi dengan bantuan dari digital natives. Karena ketertarikan secara personal kepada kakek dari penulis yang merupakan seorang lansia pengguna teknologi, penulis dan tim memutuskan untuk membuat film dokumenter pendek. Film dokumenter pendek berdurasi 10-15 menit menjadi pilihan penulis dan tim untuk menunjukkan adaptasi sekaligus kesulitan dari kelompok lansia secara langsung untuk menghindari misrepresentasi dan ageisme dalam media. Film dokumenter ini menggunakan metode partisipatoris dengan tujuan supaya audiens dapat merasakan kedekatan dan berempati dengan narasumber melalui perspektif pembuat film. Dikerjakan secara berkelompok dengan empat anggota, laporan skripsi karya ini disusun untuk memaparkan proses produksi film dokumenter yang menyoroti isu lansia dan teknologi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi dan wawancara kepada 5 orang narasumber. Selanjutnya, data diolah menjadi bentuk visual campuran antara talking head dan observasional. Hasil dari tugas akhir ini adalah film dokumenter pendek berdurasi 13 menit 39 detik dengan judul “Luar Jaringan”. Setiap narasumber memiliki pengalaman yang berbeda-beda dalam menggunakan teknologi, baik untuk komunikasi, hobi, pekerjaan, hingga mengambil pensiunan. Akan tetapi penulis memperhatikan bahwa kesulitan yang dihadapi umumnya sama, yakni kerumitan teknologi saat ini. Dari temuan tersebut, penulis dapat menyimpulkan bahwa diperlukan teknologi yang lebih mudah dimengerti bagi lansia untuk dapat menjalani masa tua secara produktif tanpa harus bersikap terlalu dependen pada orang lain.

In order to face the prediction of the elderly population explosion and demographic bonus, the elderly group is required to be able to adapt to rapid technological developments in this digitalization era. However, elderly as digital immigrants have difficulties that can be overcome with help from digital natives. Due to personal interest in the author’s grandfather who is an elderly technology user, the author and her team decided to make a short documentary film. Short documentaries with a duration of 10-15 minutes are the choice of author and the team to show the adaptation as well as the difficulties of the elderly group directly to avoid misrepresentation and ageism in the media. This documentary film uses a participatory method with the aim that the audience can feel closeness and empathy with the source person through the perspective of the filmmaker. Done in groups of four members, this thesis report is structured to describe the process of producing a documentary film that highlights the issues of the elderly and technology. Data collection was carried out using observation and interview methods with 5 informants. Furthermore, the data is processed into a mixed visual form of talking heads and observational. The result of this final project is a short documentary film with a duration of 13 minutes and 39 seconds entitled “Luar Jaringan”. Each informant has different experiences in using technology, either for communication, hobbies, work, and even claiming pension. However, the author noted that the difficulties encountered are generally the same, namely the complexity of today’s technology. From these findings, the author can conclude that simpler technology that is easier to understand is needed for the elderly to be able to live their old age productively without having to be overly dependent on others.
