Analisis Strategi Bersaing PT PLN Indonesia Power Dalam Industri Hulu Kelistrikan

The upstream electricity industry is an important industry that influences the country's economic growth, energy reliability and environmental sustainability. Currently, the total electricity production capacity in Indonesia is experiencing a surplus (oversupply) of 25% of total demand in 2022 and is dominated by coal with a proportion of 60% which has an impact on environmental issues. With a national commitment in the form of an EBT mix target of 23% in 2025 and regulations on the potential closure of a number of PLTUs that do not pass emission requirements, business actors in the upstream electricity industry must determine the right competitive strategy and adapt to future industrial developments.
This study aims to conduct industry analysis to identify external opportunities and threats, analyze the company's internal to identify internal strengths and weaknesses, and to see the suitability of the strategy currently being implemented by the company with developments occurring in the industrial environment. The data used in this study were obtained from interviews and observations at PT PLN Indonesia Power, several competing companies and related agencies. Industry analysis will be carried out using Industry Characteristics Analysis, Porter Five Forces Model, Driving Forces, Competitor Analysis and The SOAR Framework and Key Success Factors. Internal company analysis will be carried out using analysis of Key Financial Ratio, Value Chain, resources and capabilities, VRIN, competitive advantage analysis, and Porter Generic Strategies.
The results of the research analysis show that PT PLN Indonesia Power's competitive strategy uses A Focused Differentiation Strategy which concentrates on special consumer segments, in this case PLN as the main customer by offering special attributes and services (differentiation) is currently still effective to use but needs to be adjusted and formulated several strategic steps in order to achieve the company's main goals.
