Kashmir dan Proyek Keindiaan Modi: Dari Isu Perbatasan Menjadi Isu Identitas

Konflik Kashmir, yang berlangsung sejak 1947, berdampak dalam berbagai aspek sosial dan politik di India dan Pakistan. Bermula sebagai konflik perbatasan atas klaim kedaulatan, konflik Kashmir berkembang dan dikonstruksi sebagai persoalan identitas. Menggunakan konsep politik identitas, skripsi ini menunjukkan bahwa dinamika konflik Kashmir berpengaruh terhadap konstruksi identitas India di masa kepemimpinan Narendra Modi. Dalam konstruksi Global War on Terror, persoalan identitas dalam isu Kashmir semakin mengemuka, konflik ini dikonstruksi oleh elit-elit politik India sebagai ancaman keamanan berbasis terorisme Islam. Pergeseran konflik Kashmir sebagai persoalan identitas membuatnya dikonstruksi sebagai "the Others" dalam proyek pembentukan identitas India baru yang dikembangkan oleh rezim Hindutva. Dengan demikian, skripsi ini mengkaji hubungan konstitutif antara dinamika konflik Kashmir dan proyek identitas India baru Modi.

The Kashmir conflict, which has been going on since 1947, has had an impact on various social and political aspects in India and Pakistan. Starting as a border conflict over sovereignty claims, the Kashmir conflict developed and was constructed as an issue of identity. Using the concept of The Politics of Identity, this research shows that the dynamics of the Kashmir conflict influenced the construction of Indian identity during Narendra Modi's leadership. In the construction of the Global War on Terror, the issue of identity in the Kashmir conflict is increasingly coming to the fore; this conflict is constructed by Indian political elites as a security threat based on Islamic terrorism. The shift in the Kashmir conflict as a matter of identity made it constructed as "the Other'' in the project of redefining a new Indian identity orchestrated by the Hindutva regime. Thus, this thesis examines the constitutive relationship between the dynamics of the Kashmir conflict and Modi's project of a new Indian identity.
