Segalanya untuk Sang Idola: Analisis Wacana Cultural Appropriation Fans Boy Group Treasure Indonesia

Cultural appropriation merupakan sebuah tindakan mengambil atau menggunakan sesuatu dari budaya yang bukan miliknya dengan tanpa memahami atau menghormati budaya tersebut. Saat ini, isu cultural appropriation menjadi isu yang sangat dekat dengan industri hiburan K-Pop. Treasure menjadi salah satu grup yang beberapa kali pernah tersandung isu tersebut. Melalui metode etnografi media sosial di Twitter dan bantuan aplikasi Discourse Network Analyzer, saya mengikuti penggemar untuk mengetahui berbagai respon yang mereka munculkan terhadap wacana cultural appropriation. Respon tersebut kemudian akan diidentifikasi dan dianalisis lebih lanjut terkait mengapa penggemar bertindak sedemikian rupa. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ketika menyinggung isu cultural appropriation, kebanyakan penggemar Treasure Indonesia berusaha ingin melindungi idolanya, meskipun mereka mengetahui bahwa cultural appropriation adalah persoalan yang tidak benar. Dibalik hal tersebut, idola dijadikan sebagai salah satu bentuk coping mechanism oleh penggemar sehingga idola menjadi sosok penting dalam bagian hidup mereka. Selain itu, adanya interaksi parasosial yang terjadi pada penggemar dengan idolanya memunculkan perilaku fanatisme dan sikap abai atas isu yang terjadi.

Cultural appropriation is an act of taking or using something from a culture that doesn't belong to them without understanding or respecting that culture. Currently, the issue of cultural appropriation is an issue that is very close related to the K-Pop entertainment industry. Treasure is one of the boy groups that has stumbled on this issue several times. Through the ethnographic method of social media on Twitter and the help of the Discourse Network Analyzer application, I followed Treasure fans to find out the various responses they gave to the discourse on cultural appropriation. These responses will then be identified and further analyzed regarding why fans act in the way they do. This research finds that when it comes to the issue of cultural appropriation, most Treasure Indonesia fans try to protect their idols, even though they know that cultural appropriation is an incorrect behaviour. Furthermore, idols are used as a form of coping mechanism by fans so that idols become important figures in their lives. In addition, the existence of parasocial interactions that occur between fans and their idols raises fanatic behavior and ignorance of the issues that occur.
