Keunikan Tokoh dan Penokohan dalam Novel Aroma Karsa Karya Dee Lestari

Objek material dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Aroma Karsa karya Dee Lestari, sedangkan objek formal yang digunakan ialah teori struktur novel. Tujuan penelitian yang pertama ialah mengidentifikasi klasifikasi dan keunikan penamaan tokoh dalam novel Aroma Karsa. Kedua, mengidentifikasi motivasi tokoh utama serta teknik penokohan dalam novel Aroma Karsa. Ketiga, mendeskripsikan hubungan tokoh dan penokohan dengan alur, latar, tema, serta judul dalam novel Aroma Karsa. Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis permasalahan tersebut ialah deskriptif analitik. Metode deskriptif analitik dilakukan dengan cara mendeskripsikan fakta-fakta penokohan berupa klasifikasi tokoh, keunikan penamaan tokoh, motivasi tokoh, teknik penokohan, serta hubungan tokoh dan penokohan dengan alur, latar, tema, serta judul kemudian diuraikan secara detail dan jelas. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini ialah sebagai berikut. Pertama, tokoh dalam novel Aroma Karsa terbagi menjadi tokoh antagonis dan bulat, antagonis dan datar, serta protagonis dan bulat. Sementara itu, terdapat delapan tokoh tambahan utama dan datar serta 62 tokoh tambahan sampingan dan datar. Di samping itu, terdapat keunikan pada penamaan tokoh utama dan tambahan utama sebab pengarang memiliki alasan tertentu dibalik pemilihan nama-nama tersebut. Kedua, motivasi keempat tokoh utama dibedakan menjadi motivasi dasar dan spesifik. Setiap tokoh utama memiliki motivasi dasar yang berbeda, namun saling memengaruhi satu sama lain. Pada teknik penokohan, pengarang menggunakan teknik campuran, yakni dramatik dan ekspositori. Ketiga, unsur tokoh dan penokohan dalam novel Aroma Karsa berhubungan erat dengan alur, latar, tema, serta judul sehingga terdapat kepaduan dalam ceritanya.

The material object in this study is Dee Lestari’s novel Aroma Karsa, while the formal object is novel structure theory. The first aim of this study was to identify the classification and uniqueness of character naming in the novel Aroma Karsa. Second, identify the main character’s motivation and the technique of characterization in the novel Aroma Karsa. Third, describe the relations between character and characterization with the plot, setting, theme, and title in the novel Aroma Karsa. The method used to analyze the problem is descriptive analytics. The descriptive-analytical method was performed by describing facts of characterizations, namely character classification, uniqueness of character naming, character motivation, techniques of characterization, and character relations with the plot, setting, themes, and title then described in detail and clearly. The results obtained from this study are as follows. First, the characters in the novel Aroma Karsa are divided into antagonists and round, antagonists and flat, and protagonists and round. Meanwhile, there are eight main and additional flat characters and 62 additional side and flat characters. In addition, there is a uniqueness in the naming of the main characters and the main additions because the author has a certain reason behind the choice of these names. Second, the motivations of the four main characters are distinguished into basic and specific motivations. Each of the main characters has different basic motivations but influences each other. In techniques of characterization, the author uses mixed techniques, namely dramatic and expository. Third, the elements of character and characterization in the novel Aroma Karsa are closely related to the plot, setting, theme, and title so that there is cohesion in the story.
