Analisis Resepsi Audiens Terhadap Konten Gay dalam Boys Love Drama

Genre boys love terus mengalami perkembangan dan peningkatan popularitas, salah satunya produk audio visual dalam bentuk drama atau serial televisi. Industri yang berhasil memproduksi drama dengan genre boys love yang sukses di ranah dalam maupun luar negeri adalah drama besutan Thailand atau yang biasa disebut Thai Boys Love. Drama boys love buatan Thailand mendapatkan perhatian dan popularitas yang luar biasa pada awal tahun 2020. Popularitas Thai Boys Love merambah hingga berbagai negara termasuk Indonesia. Mengetahui bahwa homoseksualitas merupakan isu yang tabu dan tidak mudah untuk dibicarakan, terjadi pertentangan budaya antara drama boys love dan nilai yang tertanam pada masyarakat Indonesia. Dinamika terjadi dalam diri audiens saat mengkonsumsi drama boys love dengan nilai-nilai yang ada di masyarakat. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan analisis resepsi untuk melihat dinamika pemaknaan audiens terhadap konten gay pada drama boys love. Penelitian ini akan melihat sejauh mana resepsi yang dilakukan audiens dan bagaimana dinamaika tersebut mempengaruhi proses penerimaan dan pemaknaan terhadap konten gay dan komunitas gay di Indonesia. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa keempat informan melihat Thai boys love sebagai hiburan semata namun masing-masing informan memiliki posisi yang berbeda dalam memaknai konten Thai boys love. Pemaknaan terhadap konten Thai boys love tidak seluruhnya berbanding lurus dengan pemaknaan komunitas gay audiens. Dinamika yang terjadi pada diri informan tidak seluruhnya dapat menggeser posisi namun secara general mampu meningkatkan keterbukaan dan rasa toleransi informan terhadap komunitas gay.

Boys love genre continues to grow and develop its popularity together with the audiovisual product in form of drama or television series. The Thailand film industry has succeeded in producing dramas with boys love genre, commonly called Thai Boys Love, which catches vast attention from domestic and foreign audiences. The boys love drama grows its popularity in early 2020 and has spread to various countries including Indonesia. Knowing that homosexuality is a taboo issue, there is a cultural clash between the boys love drama and the values embedded in Indonesian society. Dynamics occur when the audience consuming boys love drama which upholds different values that reside in Indonesian society. Reception analysis method is used to see the dynamics of the audience's interpretation of homosexuality content in boys love drama. This research will look to the extent of audience's reception and how these dynamics affect the process of accepting and interpreting the content of homosexuality and homosexuality itself in Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that the four informants perceive Thai boys love drama solely as entertainment, yet each information has a different position in interpreting the content. The position of interpreting Thai boys love does not go hand in hand in with the position in interpreting homosexuality. The dynamics that occur in each information didn't manage to completely shift the informant's position however in general can increase the openness and tolerance of information towards homosexuality.
