Eksplorasi Implementasi Circle Time pada Sekolah Dasar Model Gerakan Sekolah Menyenangkan

Dewasa ini berbagai kasus permasalahan sosial emosi kerap kali terjadi di Indonesia. Salah satu penyebab maraknya fenomena ini karena kurangnya edukasi terkait hal tersebut dalam dunia pendidikan. Dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut, tentu diperlukan sebuah upaya dan cara untuk menanganinya. Maka dari itu, melalui penelitian ini akan dibahas mengenai efektivitas circle time yang merupakan sebuah aktivitas dari pembelajaran sosial emosional di Gerakan Sekolah Menyenangkan (GSM) dari sudut pandang guru maupun murid. Partisipan penelitian terdiri atas 22 murid dan 7 guru dari empat sekolah dasar model GSM di Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan wawancara dan focus group discussion. Analisis konten digunakan untuk menganalisis data pengalaman murid maupun guru saat melakukan circle time di sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan manfaat, faktor pendukung, dan tantangan dalam circle time. Manfaat circle time ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan anak dalam hal kepercayaan diri, manajemen diri, motivasi akademik, empati, keterampilan sosial, dan pembelajaran yang semula pasif menjadi aktif. Hasil yang menunjukkan faktor pendukung circle time di antaranya adalah keikutsertaan dalam GSM, fleksibilitas dalam pelaksanaan circle time, dan openmindedness dari guru. Adapun tantangan dalam circle time adalah keterbatasan waktu, tempat, materi pembelajaran/kurikulum yang padat, dan faktor dari anak itu sendiri. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi informasi terkait praktik circle time di Indonesia.

Nowadays, various cases of social-emotional problems often occur in Indonesia. One of the causes of this phenomenon is the lack of education related to it in the Indonesian education. In overcoming this problem, of course it takes an effort and a way to deal with it. Therefore, this research will discuss the effectiveness of circle time which is an activity of social emotional learning in the Gerakan Sekolah Menyenangkan (GSM) from the point of view of both the teacher and the student. Research participants consisted of 22 students and 7 teachers from four elementary schools of the GSM model in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative method with interviews and focus group discussions. Content analysis is used to analyze student and teacher experience data when doing circle time at school. The research result shows the benefits, supporting factors, and challenges in circle time. The benefits of circle time are indicated by the improvement of children in terms of self-confidence, self-management, academic motivation, empathy, social skills, and learning from passive to active. The results show that the supporting factors for circle time include participation in GSM, flexibility in implementing circle time, and openmindedness from teachers. The challenges in circle time are limited time, space, solid learning materials / curriculum, and factors from the children themselves. This research contributes to circle time in Indonesia.
