Produksi Dokumenter Virtual Reality (Studi Kasus terhadap Proses Produksi Dokumenter Virtual Reality dalam program The Feelings of Reality Forum Film Dokumenter)

Produksi dokumenter senantiasa menyesuaikan diri dengan perkembangan dan kemungkinan yang disediakan oleh teknologi dan zaman. Virtual Reality (VR) merupakan salah satu teknologi multimedia yang mulai populer digunakan untuk mewakili dan mengilustrasikan kebutuhan imersif dari penyampaian informasi dalam konten nonfiksi seperti dokumenter. Penelitian ini akan menelusuri praktik lokakarya dan proses produksi dokumenter VR yang dijalankan dalam program The Feelings of Reality Forum Film Dokumenter. Dokumenter VR akan dipahami sebagai media baru yang diambil dari -dan dibangun berdasarkan- konvensi dokumenter secara umum. Program The Feelings of Reality merupakan proyek lokakarya dan produksi dokumenter VR terkait isu disabilitas yang diselenggarakan Forum Film Dokumenter. Pertama, penelitian ini akan menggambarkan proses lokakarya yang disediakan oleh Forum Film Dokumenter untuk mengedukasi filmmaker yang terlibat terkait karakter, bentuk, dan cara kerja teknologi VR dan kaitannya dalam memuat konten dokumenter. Penjelasan juga akan mencakup bagaimana materi lokakarya disusun sekaligus keterlibatan mentor produksi yang ditunjuk di dalamnya. Selanjutnya, proses produksi dokumenter VR akan digambarkan melalui hasil observasi terhadap pelaksanaan proyek di wilayah Jawa Barat. Pada tahap akhir, hasil observasi terhadap lokakarya dan proses produksi dokumenter VR The Feelings of Reality akan dibandingkan dengan produksi VR dan dokumenter secara umum untuk melihat perbedaan dan persinggungan dari ketiganya sekaligus kebaruan yang dibuat.

Documentary production evolves as new possibilities are provided by technology. Virtual Reality (VR) is a multimedia technology that is starting to be widely used to represent and illustrate the immersive needs of delivering information in non-fiction content (such as documentaries). This research explores the practice of workshops and the VR documentary production process carried out in the The Feelings of Reality program. VR documentary will be understood as a new media that is taken from - and built on - documentary conventions in general. The Feelings of Reality program is a workshop project and VR documentary production related to disability issues organized by the Forum Film Dokumenter. First, this research will describe the workshop process provided by the Documentary Film Forum to educate filmmakers involved in the character, shape, and way of working of VR technology and its relation in loading documentary content. The explanation will also cover how the workshop material is organized as well as the involvement of the appointed production mentor in it. Furthermore, the process of VR documentary production will be illustrated through the results of observations on project implementation in the West Java region. In the final stage, the results of observations of the workshop and production process of the VR documentary The Feelings of Reality will be compared with VR production and documentary in general to see the differences and the intersection of the three as well as the novelty that is made.
