Realitas Politik: Partisipasi Politik Mahasiswa Pengguna Twitter dalam Mengamplifikasi Gerakan Gejayan Memanggil

Penelitian ini mendiskusikan partisipasi politik mahasiswa dan penggunaan media sosial, secara lebih khusus penelitian ini akan membahas bagaimana partisipasi politik mahasiswa dalam konteks gerakan sosial Gejayan Memanggil di media sosial Twitter. Fokus dari penelitian ini sendiri ditujukan untuk melihat keterlibatan aktor pengguna media sosial dan kepentingannya dalam menghadirkan aktivisme online maupun offline pada aksi Gejayan Memanggil. Aktor yang dimaksud adalah aktor individu atau pengguna media sosial Twitter. Dari 206 responden mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Politik Universitas Gadjah Mada yang memenuhi kriteria, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekan teori used and gratification. Hasil dari pertanyaan tersebut dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi motif atau kepentingan yang mendorong mahasiswa pengguna media sosial Twitter dalam memberikan dukungan atau partisipasinya terhadap aksi Gejayan Memanggil. Hasil dari peneliti ini selain akan menjawab pertanyaan peneliti juga akan mengkonfirmasi beberapa pertanyaan dari beberapa literatur terkait partisipasi politik dan media sosial.

This study examines the students political participation and the use of social media and how they engage in politics within the Gejayan Call of action on social media, particularly, twitter. This papers aims to shed light on the involvement of social media users who are individual actors or twitter users and their sole interests unveiled through both online and offline activism to the Gejayan Call of action. 206 respondents from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University fulfilled the criteria, this research embraces the used and gratification theory. The results of this study may help identify the motives or interests that encourage students, as social media users to provide support or participation in the Gejayan Calling movement. The results of this research will not only respond to the present research questions, but will also uphold some of the questions from various previous literatures related to political involvement and social media.
