Analisis Upgraing dalam Rantai Niai Global terhadap Industri Sarang Burung Walet (SBW) Indonesia

Sarang burung walet, komoditas yang dapat banyak ditemukan diseluruh penjuru Indonesia dengan jumlah yang banyak. Selain jumlah yang melimpah, banyak juga manfaat yang didapat dari begeraknya roda perekonomian dari sektor industry walet, seperti harga yang tinggi hingga manfaat kesehatan menurut para ahli yang didapat dari mengkonsumsi sarang burung walet. Indonesia sebagai eksportir terbesar sarang burung walet pada level global harus terus berinovasi agar produk sarang burung walet (SBW) Indonesia juga memiliki kualitas yang terbaik sehingga terjadi keseimbangan dan stabilitas antara kuantitas dan kualitas. Dengan peralihan aktivitas perekonomian masing-masing negara dari import substitution industry (ISI) ke export orientation industry (EOI) menjadi tantangan yang nyata bagi industry SBW Indonesia, terlebih sebagian besar negara-negara penghasil SBW seperti Malaysia dan Vietnam lebih memilih pasar global karena konsumsi dalam negeri yang tidak signifikan. Industrialupgradingdalam Global Value Chain (GVC) menjadi berarti perannya untuk melihat bagaimana performa industry SBW Indonesia sehingga dapat terus berkembang dan bersaing pada level global. Industrial upgrading (fungsi, proses, produk dan inter-sektoral) dianggap dapat menentukan bagaimana kapasitas industry SBW Indonesia bersaing. Seluruh proses dan perkembangan tentu tidak terlepas dari bagaimana kebijakan-kebijakan dalam world economic triangle (local policy, global policy dan lead firm) mempengaruhi kinerja industri SBW.

Swallow's nest or edible bird nest, a commodity that can be found throughout Indonesia in large quantities. In addition to abundant amounts, there are also many benefits to be gained from the bird nest industry, such as high prices to health benefits obtained from consuming swallow's nests. Indonesia as the largest exporter of swallow's nests at the global level, must continue to innovate so that the swallow's nest products of Indonesia has the best quality in accordance to create balance and stability between quantity and quality that result in higher prices. With the transition of economic activities of each country from import substitution industry (ISI) to export orientation industry (EOI), it becomes a real challenge for the Indonesian bird nest industry, especially most bird nest producing countries such as Malaysia and Vietnam prefer the global market because of the insignificant consumption in domestic level. Industrial upgrading in the Global Value Chain (GVC) means to see how the performance of the Indonesian bird nest industry, so that it can continue to grow and compete on a global level. Industrial upgrading (functions, processes, products and inter-sectoral) is considered to be able to determine how the capacity of the Indonesian bird nest industry competes. The entire process and development cannot be separated from how policies in the triangle governance (local policy, global policy and lead firm) affect the performance of the industry.
