ANALISIS PERSEPSI, KONDISI MENTAL, DAN FISIK TOKOH GREY DALAM FILM UPGRADE KARYA LEIGH WHANNELL DITINJAU DARI PERSPEKTIF PSIKOLOGI EVOLUSIONER

Grey Trace adalah tokoh utama dalam film Upgrade karya Leigh Whannell yang mengalami pergeseran persepsi dirinya atas teknologi yang disebabkan oleh implan sebuah artefak teknologi. Pergeseran persepsi yang terjadi saling mempengaruhi mental dan fisiknya, sehingga muncul tantangan pada sisi spiritualitas Grey pada proses evolusinya. Dengan dasar-dasar prinsip psikologi evolusioner, peneliti menganalisis proses evolusi Grey secara internal yang melibatkan pertimbangan dan pengambilan keputusan yang didasarkan pada seleksi alamiah, adaptasi, mekanisme psikologis hasil evolusi, serta peran sentral habitat dalam psikologi evolusioner. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kajian pustaka untuk menganalisis kondisi mental dan fisik tokoh Grey dalam film Upgrade menggunakan prinsip psikologi evolusioner. Dalam metode analisis penelitian ini terdiri dari deskripsi dan interpretasi film Upgrade karya Leigh Whannell sebagai data utama. Hasil dari penelitian ini ada tiga. Pertama, mengafirmasi bahwa persepsi merupakan kemampuan Grey yang tidak dapat dihilangkan dan berpengaruh pada mental dan fisiknya. Kedua, uraian proses evolusi Grey secara internal yang berpengaruh pada kondisi mental dan fisik sehingga menimbulkan mekanisme psikologis untuk mempertahankan hal yang lebih memberikan manfaat pada Grey dan meninggalkan segala hal yang merugikan, secara mental dan fisik. Ketiga, spiritualitas Grey berusaha mempertahankan sisi materialnya, namun dalam prosesnya gagal untuk bertahan melawan entitas kecerdasan buatan yang tidak ia pahami. Spiritualitas manusia dalam diri Grey juga termasuk sebagai substansi yang tidak dapat dihilangkan dalam proses seleksi evolusi manusia.

Grey Trace is the main character in Upgrade movie directed by Leigh Whannell who shift his perception about technology because of a technology implanted within his body. Perception shift that happened affects his mental and physic, because of this Grey's spirituality challenged in the evolution process. With the principal of evolutionary psychology, researcher analyze the process of evolution within Grey internally which involves consideration and decision making based on natural selection, adaptation, evolved psychological mechanism, and central role of the habitat in context of evolutionary psychology. This research uses literature study to analyze the mental and physical condition of the Grey character in the Upgrade movie using the principles of evolutionary psychology. In the method of analysis this study consists of a description and interpretation of Upgrade movie by Leigh Whannell as the main data. The results of this research are three. First, affirms perception is Gray's ability that cannot be eliminated and it affects his mental and physical condition. Second, the description of Grey's internal evolutionary processes that affect mental and physical conditions, thus creating psychological mechanisms to maintain things that are more beneficial to Grey and abandon useless things, mentally and physically. Third, Grey spirituality tries to maintain its material side, but in the process fails to survive against artificial intelligence entities that Grey does not understand. Human spirituality within Grey also a substance that cannot be abandoned in the selection process of human evolution.
