Sentralitas Agency dalam Komunitas Seni Lokal : Studi Kasus Self Governing Komunitas Lima Gunung

Praktik kesenian telah menjadi bagian dari keseharian warganegara dengan campur tangan terbatas dari negara. Warganegara berinisiatif sendiri membuat perkumpulan demi melangsungkan praktik budaya tersebut. Salah satu perkumpulan yang menarik perhatian adalah Komunitas Lima Gunung. Komunitas Lima Gunung dirintis sejak tahun 1980-an. Komunitas yang dipimpin oleh seniman kharismatik, Sutanto Mendut tersebut masih bertahan dan konsisten menggelar festival seni tahunan secara swadaya. Berangkat dari fenomena tersebut, penelitian ini mencari jawaban atas pertanyaan, “bagaimana mekanisme self governing Komunitas Lima Gunung?”. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan metode studi kasus. Studi kasus digunakan untuk menggali fenomena eksistensi Komunitas Lima Gunung secara mendalam. Untuk memperoleh data yang detail, peneliti menggunakan teknik observasi partisipan, wawancara, dokumentasi dan bahan audiovisual. Penelitian ini menemukan tiga hal. (1) Komunitas Lima Gunung masih bergantung pada figur pemimpinnya. (2) Fungsi regulasi, intermediary dan welfare Komunitas Lima Gunung bersifat kuat sementara fungsi manajemen konflik dan penguatan kapasitasnya lemah. (3) Sentralitas agency adalah paradoks yang dapat berimplikasi pada eksistensi komunitas namun juga dapat menjadi bom waktu.

The practice of art has become part of the daily lives of citizens with limited interference from the state. Citizens took the initiative to make associations to carry out these cultural practices. One of the interesting associations is Komunitas Lima Gunung. Komunitas Lima Gunung was pioneered since the 1980s. The community, led by charismatic artist, Sutanto Mendut, still survives and consistently holds an annual art festival independently. Departing from this phenomenon, this research seeks answers to the question, "what is the self-governing mechanism of the Five Mountain Community?". This qualitative study uses a case study method. Case studies are used to explore the phenomenon of the existence of Komunitas Lima Gunung in depth. To obtain detailed data, researchers used the techniques of participant observation, interviews, documentation and audiovisual material. This study found three things. (1) Komunitas Lima Gunung still depends on its leader. (2) The functions of regulation, intermediary and welfare of Komunitas Lima Gunung are strong while the functions of conflict management and capacity building are weak. (3) Centrality of the agency is a paradox that have implications for the existence of the community but also a time bomb.
