Flash Butt Welder merupakan mesin las yang termasuk dalam jenis las resistansi listrik yang dalam proses pengelasannya tidak memerlukan elektroda tambahan, karena dalam proses pengelasan resistansi listrik ini material yang akan dilas difungsikan sebagai elektroda. Saat proses pengelasan, material yang akan dilas dibersihkan dan dialiri arus listrik pada kedua kutub material, kemudian material didekatkan sesuai jarak yang telah ditentukan sehingga terjadi loncatan busur listrik yang menyebabkan kedua ujung material panas dan saat telah mencapai temperatur pengelasan, kedua material di tabrakan sampai kedua material tersebut tersambung. Pada produksi di area CTCM di PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk., flash but welder ini digunakan untuk mengelas strip coil yang dimana proses pengelasan dilakukan secara continuous sampai jumlah produksi terpenuhi. Pembuatan blow off pada ware plate trimmer ini berfungsi untuk membersihkan rel trimmer secara otomatis, dimana dahulu pembersihannya masih dilakukan dengan bantuan operator secara manual dan sering terjadi masalah trimmer jump akibat kelalaian operator lupa untuk membersihkan setelah lima kali siklus pengelasan. Equipment blow off ini berfungsi menyemprotkaan udara bertekanan yang diarahkan pada rel trimmer secara otomatis sesuai sequence pada trimmer sehingga tidak ada lagi kotoran pada rel trimmer yang dapat menyebabkan trimmer jump. Pembuatan equipment ini berfungsi dengan baik dan berhasil menekan delay akibat breakdown trimmer jump sehingga dapat menghemat biaya kerugian akibat delay sampai Rp. 450.862.234,7 rupiah per dua bulan produksi, yang dahulu kerugian yang ditimbulkan akibat delay breakdown trimmer jump mencapai Rp. 493.031.737,8 rupiah dan setelah penambahan equipment blow off tidak terjadi lagi delay yang disebabkan oleh breakdown trimmer jump menjadi Rp. 42.169.503,08 rupiah.

Flash Butt Welder is a welding machine that is included in the type of electric resistance welding which in the welding process does not require additional electrodes because in the process of welding this electrical resistance the material to be welded functions as an electrode. When the welding process, the material must be clean and electrified at both poles, then the material is brought up to a predetermined distance so that an electric arc jumps which causes both ends of the material to heat and when it reaches welding temperature, the two materials are collided until the two materials are connected. In production in the area of CTCM at PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk., flash butt welder is used to weld coil strips where the welding process is carried out continuously until the production amount is fulfilled. Additions the blow off on this trimmer ware plate serves to clean the trimmer rails automatically. The cleaning is still done with the help of the operator manually, and trimmer jump problems often occur due to operator negligence the operator forgets to clean the trimmer rails after five welding cycles. The blow off equipment are used to spray pressurized air directed at the trimmer rail automatically according to the trimmer sequence so that there is no more dirt on the trimmer rail which can cause the trimmer jump. The blow off equipment works properly and successfully suppresses the delay due to the breakdown of the trimmer jump, so that it can save the cost of losses due to delay up to 450,862,234.7 rupiah per two months production, which previously caused losses due to the delay breakdown of the trimmer jump reaching 493,031,737.8 rupiah and after the addition of the blow off equipment there was no longer a delay caused by the trimmer jump breakdown to 42,169,503.08 rupiah.
