FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMENGARUHI PENENTUAN LOKASI ASRAMA MAHASISWA DAERAH DI DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA KASUS: ASRAMA MAHASISWA PROVINSI

Meningkatnya kebutuhan akan hunian sementara bagi mahasiswa yang berasal dari luar Yogyakarta memunculkan fenomena pembangunan asrama mahasiswa daerah yang terus berkembang dari waktu ke waktu. Faktanya, belum terdapat aturan yang berfungsi mengatur dan mengelola pembangunan asrama mahasiswa daerah di Yogyakarta maupun teori yang membahas terkait fenomena pembangunan asrama mahasiswa daerah. Teori yang ada saat ini baru sebatas membahas pemilihan lokasi bagi hunian secara umum seperti perumahan dan vertical housing berupa rumah susun ataupun apartemen. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan metode deduktif kualitatif dengan dibantu data kuantitatif. Unit amatan dalam penelitian ini berupa asrama mahasiswa daerah yang dikelola oleh berbagai Pemerintah Provinsi yang berada di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Unit analisis meliputi karakteristik asrama mahasiswa daerah, lokasi persebaran dan faktor pemilihan lokasi asrama mahasiswa daerah. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa faktor yang memengaruhi penentuan lokasi asrama mahasiswa daerah cukup mirip dengan hunian pada umumnya, namun terdapat beberapa faktor lain yang membedakan, antara lain faktor ketersediaan aset (menempati bangunan lama yang dialih fungsikan), hibah, kondisi politik pada saat asrama dibangun serta faktor sosial penghuni asrama seperti dominasi mahasiswa daerah pada perguruan tinggi tertentu, jenis kelamin serta budaya asal.

The increasing need for temporary settlement for student from outside the Yogyakarta has raised the development of regional student dormitories which are developing by the time. In fact, the are no rules or theory that discuss about the development of regional student dormitores in Yogyakarta. The current theory only discusses about the location preference for general settlement such as housing and vertical houses like flats or apartments. The method used in this study was deductive qualitative with little quantitative data participation method. The unit of observation were regional student dormitories which maintained by the various provincial governments were located in Yogyakarta. The unit of analysis was characteristics of student dormitories, the location of distribution and the factors that affect the determination of the location of regional student dormitories. The result of the study found that the factors that affect the determination of the location of regional student dormitories are similiar to settlement in general, but there are several factors distinguish it such as the factor of assets availability (old building use), grants, political issues when the the dormitories was built and other social factor such as the dominance of students from particular university, gender and culture of origin.
