STUDI PENGARUH PEMBERIAN PREPARAT HORMON TESTOSTERON TERHADAP KUANTITAS DAM KUALITAS EJAKULAT AYAM BURAS

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian preparat hormon testosteron terhadap kualitas dan kuantitas ejakulat ayam buras. Dua puluh ekor ayam buras jantan yang berumur 10-14 bulan dibagi secara acak menjadi dua kelompok, kelompok I sebagai kontrol dan kelompok II sebagai kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok I terdiri dari 10 ekor ayam buras jantan yang disuntik dengan 0,2 ml perekor aquabidestilata steril secara subkutan, sedang pada kelompok II disuntik dengan 0,2 ml perekor hormon testosteron secara subkutan. Perlakuan ini diberikan dua kali seminggu selama 37 hari. Evaluasi kualitas spernaa meliputi, warna, bau, konsistensi, derajat keasaman (pH), dan kuantitas sperma meliputi volume, konsentrasi, motilitas, persentase sel sperma hidup, persentase sel sperma abnormal. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis student's t-test. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dengan pemberian preparat hormon testosteron secara subkutan dapat meningkatkan kuantitas ejakulat ayam buras yang sangat nyata (P< 0,01), kecuali pada persentase sel sperma yang hidup yang berbeda tidak nyata. Pada ayam kontrol dan perlakuan memiliki warna sperma putih seperti susu, bau yang spesifik yaitu agak amis, konsistensinya agak kental, dan derajat keasaman sekitar 7-8. Rerata volume, motilitas, konsentrasi sel sperma, persentase sel sperma hidup dan persentase sel sperma abnormal pada kelompok ayam perlakuan vs kelompok ayam kontrol berturut-turut adalah 0,32 vs 0,21 ml, 79,44 % vs 67,5 %, 5,14 milyar/ml vs 3,69 milyar/ml, 87,65 % vs 85,17 %, 5,57 % vs 9,14 %. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan pemberian preparat hormon testosteron secara subkutan, secara umum dapat meningkatkan kuantitas ejakulat ayam buras. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of synthetic testosteron hormone injection on quality and quantity of native chicken ejaculate. Twenty heads of local chicken were randomly devided into two groups, namely group I as a control group and group II as a treated group. Ten heads of local chicken in the control group were injected subcutaneously with 0,2 ml/head sterile aquabidestilata, and the treatment group were injected subcutaneously with 0,2 ml/ head testosteron hormone twice a week for 37 days.The quality of ejaculate were evaluated; colour, flavor, consistency, acidity (pH) and quantity ejaculate were evaluated; volume, motility, sperm cell concentration, percentage of live sperm, and abnormal sperm cell percentage. The collected data was significantly by student's t-test method. The result showed that testosterone injection P< .01 improved the quantity and quality of these chicken's semen, except for live sperm cell percentage, that showed non-significant. The data for semen colour was creamy milk, with fishy odour, and a little bit of viscouse consistency, and the average of acidity is 7-8. The averages of volume, motility, concentration, percentage of survival sperm cell, and percentage of abnormal sperm cell between the chicken in the treated group vs the control group were: .32 vs .21 ml, 79,44% vs 67,5%, 5,14 billion/ml vs 3,69 billion/ml, 87,65 vs 85,17 %, 5,57 % vs 9,14 %, respectively. It was concluded that the injection of testosteron subcutaneously would significant improve the quantity and quality of local chicken ejaculate.
