STOCHASTIC FRONTIER APPROACH UNTUK MENGANALISIS TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY INDUSTRI MANUFAKTUR DI INDONESIA TAHUN 2012

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi apakah terdapat inefisiensi dalam industri manufaktur besar dan sedang di Indonesia, apakah inefisiensi tersebut disebabkan oleh technical inefficiency dalam produksi industri manufaktur. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi apakah pengeluaran untuk pekerja, male/female ratio, firm size, penanaman modal dalam negeri, dan kepemilikan modal oleh pemerintah mempengaruhi technical inefficiency industri manukfaktur di Indonesia dan menganalisis bagaimana pengaruhnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan stochastic frontier analysis dalam mengestimasi data industri manufaktur besar dan sedang di Indonesia pada tahun 2012. Penelitian ini berhasil mengidentifikasi adanya technical inefficiency sebesar 11,06 atau masih ada 11,06 persen kesempatan industri manufaktur besar dan sedang untuk mencapai tingkat produksi yang paling efisien. Faktor penyebab inefisiensi dalam produksi industri besar dan sedang adalah pengeluaran untuk pekerja dan male/female ratio tenaga kerja. Oleh karena itu, peneliti berusaha memberikan saran untuk memberikan tambahan insentif terhadap tenaga kerja untuk meningkatkan produktifitas tenaga kerja dan mengurangi perputaran tenaga kerja serta mensubstitusi tenaga kerja perempuan dengan tenaga kerja laki-laki berdasarkan masing-masing cabang industri manufaktur agar ke depannya industri manufaktur di Indonesia dapat lebih efisien.

This study aims to identify whether there are inefficiencies in large and medium manufacturing industries in Indonesia, does the inefficiencies caused by technical inefficiency in production of manufacturing industry. In addition, this study also aims to identify whether the labor expenditures, male/female ratio, firm size, domestic investment and capital ownership by the government affecting technical inefficiency of manufacturing industry in Indonesia and analyze how it affects. This study uses a stochastic frontier analysis in estimating data in large and medium manufacturing industries in Indonesia in 2012. This study identifies the technical inefficiency of 11.06 or there are still 11.06 percent chance of large and medium manufacturing industry to reach the most efficient production level. Factors that cause inefficiencies in the production of large and medium industries are labor expenditures and male/female ratio of labor. Therefore, the researcher tries to give advice to provide additional incentives for labor to improve labor productivity and reduce labor turnover and substitute female labor with male labor based on their respective branches of the manufacturing industry to make manufacturing industry in Indonesia more efficient in the future.
