Musik metal adalah salah satu genre musik yang diterima dari budaya barat, musik metal beserta nilai yang terkandung didalamnya telah diterima oleh generasi muda di Indonesia. Namun sayangnya musik metal telah lekat dengan berbagai bentuk stigma dan stereotifikasi negatif dari kebanyakan orang, seperti musik yang tidak wajar hingga sebagai sebab setiap perilaku negatif dari anak muda, tidak terkecuali di Indonesia. Hal seperti ini dianggap sebagai suatu hal yang berbahaya dalam perkembangan jiwa anak muda, ditambah dengan citra hitam dan suram yang menyelubungi identitas dari seorang metalhead. Berdasarkan hal ini, lalu bagaimanakah praktik berekspresi untuk mengidentitaskan diri mereka hingga dicap dengan berbagai stigma yang negatif? Apakah yang menjadi penyebab musik ini menjadi terasaosiasi dengan citra suram. gelap, atau hitam? Bagaimana motivasi dan pendapat mereka untuk selalu terasosiasi dengan citra tersebut dalam mengekspresikan identitasnya di era musik yang dengan cepat berkembang? Pertanyaan-pertanyaan itulah yang mendorong penulis untuk melakukan penelitian yang lebih dalam mengenai praktik berekspresi dalam beridentitas ala metalhead dengan melihat citra hitam tersebut sebagai salah satu hal yang dikedepankan oleh mereka dalam berekspresi. Salah satu hal yang menggugah penulis adalah munculnya sebuah identitas metal poser. Sebuah identitas yang seringkali tidak disukai oleh para metalhead dalam mengidentitaskan diri mereka. Penulis sedikit beranggapan bahwa dimungkinkan terdapat kebingungan dalam mengekspresikan identitas mereka tersebut terkait dengan adanya poser. Bedasarkan hal ini penulis mencoba untuk merunut kembali bagaimana identitas musik metal dikonstruksi dan dibangun dimulai dari mengglobalnya metal, dikonsumsinya metal, menjadi bentuk gaya hidup metal, hingga berekspresi dalam identitas yang berideologi metal. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa praktik berekspresi dalam identitas metalhead tidak hanya dalam wacana musikal namun juga praktik non musikal seperti melalui tulisan, visualitas, verbal, gerakan gesture yang di dukung dengan praktik Do It Yourself. Musik metal bagi metalhead tidak hanya di pandang sebagai sebuah piliihan style dalam bermusik, namun lebih sebagai bentuk jalan keluar dari hal negative dalam diri dan melalui praktik-praktik dalam metal tersebut mereka mengekspresikannya Terdapatnya metal poser ternyata tidak sepenuhnya di tolak, namun lebih fleksibel dalam menanggapinya. Karena di satu sisi adanya metal poser justru memberikan dampak positif kepada mereka seperti memberikan ruang diskusi baru terhadap kultur musik mainstream. Citra hitam musik metal pun tidak hanya bergerak pada warna dalam segi visualitas, tetapi dapat bergerak dalam musiknya, tulisan dalam lirik, hingga isu – isu wacana yang di bersifat provokasi, kontroversial dan melawan. ini merupakan sebuah kecocokan dengan apa yang mereka ekspresikan,. Suram, gelap, hitam, kelam, lebih pantas sebagai citra musik metal dengan berbagai praktiknya

Metal music is one genre of music that is received from the western culture, music and their metal values contained therein have been accepted by the younger generation in Indonesia. But unfortunately the metal music has been attached to various forms of stigma and negative stereotypes of most people, such as music that is not fair to the real cause any negative behavior of young people, not least in Indonesia. Things like this is regarded as a dangerous thing in the mental development of young people, coupled with the image of black and gloomy that surrounds the identity of a metalhead. Based on this, and how the practice of expression for identified themselves to be labeled with a variety of negative stigma? What is the cause of this music became associated with gloomy image. dark, or black? How motivation and their opinions to always be associated with that image in expressing their identity in the era of music that rapidly evolving? The questions is encourage the authors to do more research on the practice of identity expression in the style of metalhead to see the black image as one of the things being put forward by their expression. One of the things that inspires the writer is the emergence of a poser metal identity. An identity that is often disliked by the metalhead in identifying themselves. The author considers that it is possible there is a bit of confusion in expressing their identity is associated with the poser. Based on this writer tried to trace back how metal music identity have been constructed and built by start from how metal globalize, consumed metal, and became to formed metal music lifestyle, to express the identity of the ideology of metal. The results of this researched showed that the practice of expression in metalhead identity is not only moved in the musical discourse, but also non-musical practices such as through writing, visuality, verbal in lyrical forms, gesture movement that is supported by the practice of Do It Yourself. Metal music for metalheads are not only viewed as a selection of style in music, but rather as a form of escape from the negative things in their life and through that practices in the metal they express that feeling. The existence of metal poser was not completely rejected by them, but is more flexible in responding, Because in other side, metal poser actually provide a positive impact to them, as provide a new space for disccusion towards to the mainstream music culture. The black imagery of metal music was not only moving in the color terms like visualization, but can also entered and engaged into musical form, frontal lyric and verbal singing, even to the issue or discourse which is tend to controversial, provocation, and resistence. All these things can describe the imagery of metal music surrounds the identity by black. It is suitable with what they expressed, because its more worthy as a musical image of metal music with all those practice to express negative feeling
