REKONDISI RACK AND PINION POWER STEERING

2016 | Tugas Akhir | D3 TEKNIK MESIN SVABSTRACT Steering system is used to make the wheel move to the direction we want. If the steering wheel spinning, steering column will forwarding the spinning power to steering gear. Then, the steering gear will increasing the spinning power so that will make a bigger momen to make the front wheel move by using steering linkage.Steering system that used for this experiment is recirculating ball and rack and pinion, especially for car steering system. The parts of rack and pinion consist of steering wheel, steering shaft and coloumn tube, steering gear wheel, steering rack home, pinion and rack. The rack and pinion power steering recondition process which has been done is, at first, identifying visually and by how it works, I found that 2 of the hose that connect to pump and gear housing power steering was not connected, the steer was not connected because of the steering arm is broken, steering arm holder was too short so it made uncomfortable when used and breaking the steering gear house. Then removed dust from rack and pinion, then repairing the motor dynamo by spooling so the power steering pump could move, then connecting the 33,9 cm sized steel bar to 17 mm hole at the frame trainer, then welding the steering gear, increasing load, changing trainer wheel and changing the low pressure hose. The result of rack and pinion power steering recondition is, the examination get the good result because now the power steering become more light when used although we add more spring load, the weight of the spring become no effect, that so different when we turn off the power steering. INTISARI Sistem kemudi berfungsi untuk mengatur arah roda kearah yang diinginkan dengan cara membelokan roda depan, kekiri kekanan dan memutar. Bila roda kemudi berputar, steering column akan meneruskan tenaga putarnya ke steering gear. Streeing gear memperbesar tenaga putar sehingga menghasilkan momen yang lebih besar untuk menggerakan roda depan melalui steering linkage. Sistem kemudi yang menjadi bahasan dalam penelitian ini adalah recirculating ball dan rack and pinion ,khususnya sistem kemudi untuk mobil. Bagian-bagian rack and pinion adalah roda kemudi, steeing shaft dan coloumn tube, roda gigi kemudi, rumah steering rack, pinion, rack. Proses rekondisi rack and pinion power steering, yang dilakukan adalah, mengidentifikasi secara visual dan berdasarkan cara kerjanya, ditemukan dua pipa yang menghubungkan pompa dan gear housing power steering tidak tersambung, setir tidak tersambung karena lengan setir rusak, terlalu pendeknya dudukan lengan setir sehingga mengakibatkan tidak nyaman saat digunakan, dan bocornya rumah gigi kemudi. Lalu rack and pinion dibersihkan dari debu, dinamo motor dilakukan perbaikan dengan cara penyepulan, sehingga bisa mengerakan pompa power steering, dilakukan penambahan pada rangka trainer dengan cara menyambung balok besi ukuran 33,9 cm ukuran lubang 17 mm, dilakukan pengelasan gigi kemudi, penambahan beban, pengantian roda trainer dan menganti selang balik. Hasil rekondisi dan analisa rack and pinion power steering, pengujian didapatkan hasil yang memuaskan karena perbedaan saat komponen power steering dihidupkan setir sangat ringan bila di putar kekiri atau kekanan akan tetapi sudah ditambakan pegas beban, beban ditimbulkan oleh pegas sangat tidak terasa, berbeda jika komponen power steering tidak dihidupkan, sehingga sangat optimal.
