UNSUR-UNSUR INTRINSIK CERPEN KIBRIYA DALAM ANTOLOGI CERPEN AL-MUDIL KARYA SAID ARAFAH: ANALISIS STRUKTURAL STANTON

Cerita pendek yang berjudul Kibriya dalam kumpulan cerpen al-Mudil adalah salah satu karya sastrawan Mesir, Said Arafah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan unsur-unsur intrinsik yang menyusun cerita Kibriya dan hubungan antarunsur tersebut melalui analisis struktural. Unsur-unsur intrinsik yang diteliti terdiri atas (i) fakta cerita yang terdiri dari tokoh dan penokohan, alur cerita, latar, (ii) sarana cerita yang berupa judul, dan (iii) tema. Unsur tersebut diidentifikasi kemudian dideskripsikan sehingga dapat ditentukan keterkaitan antarunsurnya untuk mendapatkan satu kesatuan makna yang utuh. Penelitian ini menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa tema cerita Kibriya adalah kesombongan adalah awal dari kehancuran. Tokoh dalam cerita ini terdiri atas tokoh utama, yaitu Suzi Hanim dan tokoh tambahan yang terdiri dari Husain Mukhtar, Jamil Hamzawi, lelaki pemberi alamat, pegawai insinyur Husain Mukhtar, dan penelpon yang diceritakan dengan alur lurus yang meliputi tahap awal, tahap tengah, dan tahap akhir dengan latar tempat netral berupa istana Syaukat Basnya, kasino, mobil Suzi Hanim, Kantor Perusahaan Teknik Mekanik, jembatan Abu Al-Ala, kamar Husain Mukhtar dan Suzi Hanim, dan Rumah Sakit serta latar waktu netral yang terdiri atas siang dan malam hari. Adapun latar sosialnya adalah tentang kebiasaan hidup para mahasiswa dan masyarakat kalangan atas yang mengikuti pergaulan bebas. Judul pada cerpen ini sangat erat kaitannya dengan tema dan tokoh utama. Masing-masing unsur tersebut saling berkaitan satu dengan yang lainnya sehingga menghasilkan kesatuan makna yang utuh.

Short story Kibriya from anthology al-Mudil was written by Egyptian writer, Said Arafah. The purpose of this study is to reveal the intrinsic elements in the story and the connections among them, through structural analysis. The intrinsic elements throughout this short story consists of, (i) story is facts (characters, plot, and setting), (ii) story is tool that is the title, and (iii) the story is theme. These elements are identified and described, so that it can determine the relation among lots of different elements into one unified meaning. The result of this study showed that the theme story of Kibriya is that vanity will only causes an misfortunes. The main character of this story is Suzi Hanim, and some additional characters are Husain Mukhtar, Jamil Hamzawi, the address giver, Husain Mukhtars employee, and the caller. The story uses a straight plot through three stages, which are beginning stage, middle stage, and end stage, combined with story is setting place consisted of the Syaukat Basnya palace, casino, Suzi Hanim is car, office of engineering company, Abu Al-Ala bridge, Husain Mukhtar and Suzi Hanim's room, and Hospital, and story is time setting consisted of the day-time and night-time. Whereas the social background of the story is students and upper social class society is custom in free lifestyle. This story was told in first person point of view. Each of these elements was inter-connected thus they would gain one unified meaning.
