Allegory and imagery are important in accommodating the idea of Sufism that revealing the meaning of allegory and imagery in one way to understand Sufism. Birds are a common allegory in the Sufi tradition, and Mantiq al-Ṭair is a famous Sufistic work in the use of the bird symbol, which is thought to be the inspiration for the birth of Sufi works with bird symbols after them, including the Bird Pingai Poem. The purpose of this research is to reveal the allegorical relationship between Mantiq al-Ṭair and the Bird Pingai Poem in terms of the use of the bird symbol, as well as the image of the bird. The purpose of this research is to reveal the allegorical relationship between Mantiq al-Ṭair and the Bird Pingai Poem in terms of the use of the bird symbol, as well as the image of the bird symbol as a Sufi allegory. Riffaterre's Intertextual Theory is used to achieve this goal by aligning the hypogram text and its transformation text. The analysis was carried out using retroactive reading and intertextual reading methods. These findings show that the Bird Pingai Poem is an expansion of its hypogram text, Mantiq al-Ṭair. The Sīmurg symbol in Mantiq al-Ṭair, which is transformed as Pingai, Ṭairu'l-uryani, and nūri in the Pingai Bird Poem, demonstrates the allegorical relation. The two texts' narrative flows share a similar matrix, namely the search for self-identity. The Sīmurg and Pingai symbols both refer to the same concept, which is Insān Kāmil, or the perfect human in terms of form and knowledge.
