Psychometrics Evaluation of Gadjah Mada Scholastic Test Using Rasch Analysis

Seleksi untuk masuk ke perguruan tinggi merupakan isu penting di Indonesia. Salah satu ujian seleksi yang paling bergengsi adalah Gadjah Mada Scholastic Test untuk International Undergraduate Program (IUP) di Universitas Gadjah Mada. Menurut Harman, (1994, dikutip dalam Krisna, Mardapi, & Azwar, 2016), efektivitas seleksi mahasiswa baru sangat penting karena kualitas calon berdampak pada efisiensi internal dan kualitas program pendidikan yang disampaikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sifat psikometrik dari tes GMST versi 191 dan 192 yang disajikan. Analisis komparatif sifat psikometrik menggunakan pendekatan Rasch yang mengukur tingkat kesulitan item dalam setiap sub-tes dalam tes GMST 191 dan 192. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tes GMST 191 dan 192 tidak memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan pada sifat psikometrik mereka dan kedua versi tes GMST mengandung berbagai tingkat kesulitan item, dan peta item-person di semua subtes memenuhi kriteria ideal untuk jenis tes seleksi.

Selection to enter a higher education is an important issue in Indonesia. One of the most prestigious selection tests is Gadjah Mada Scholastic Test for International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at Universitas Gadjah Mada. According to Harman, (1994, as cited in Krisna, Mardapi, & Azwar, 2016), the effectiveness in the selection of new undergraduates is critical since the quality of candidates has an impact on the internal efficiency and quality of the educational program delivered. The present study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the presented GMST test versions 191 and 192. Comparative analysis of psychometric properties using the Rasch approach which measures the level of difficulty of the items in each sub-test in the GMST 191 and 192 tests. The research findings show that the GMST 191 and 192 tests did not have significant differences on their psychometric properties and both versions of the GMST test contain various item difficulty levels, and the item-person maps in all subtests meet the ideal criteria for this kind of selection test.
