Narasi Kuratorial: Praktik Kerja Kurator dalam Pameran "LINKAGE: 20th OHD Museum"

Dalam membangun dan mengelola museum, yang terpenting bukan hanya menjaga dan melestarikan koleksi. Memahami objek koleksi museum dalam konteks sosial-budayanya dan pemanfaatan koleksi secara maksimal penting dilakukan agar koleksi museum dapat hidup dan relevan sebagai objek pengetahuan. Diskursus pada penelitian ini akan mengangkat soal bagaimana kurator membuat narasi kuratorial koleksi dalam pameran temporer "LINKAGE: 20th OHD Museum" di OHD Museum, di mana praktik kerja kurator ini menunjukan pemanfaatan koleksi sebagai objek pengetahuan. Melalui penelitian ini, kita dapat melihat bagaimana kurator mempunyai tanggung jawab dan ranah yang berbeda, dilihat dari pembagian jenis kurator tetap dan kurator tamu di OHD Museum. Kemudian, melihat bagaimana peran dan relasi kerja kurator di sebuah museum. Kemudian, mengacu pada teori Curatorial Communication Process (CCP) yang dikemukakan oleh Paco Barragan, penelitian ini akan membedah melalui apa saja kurator memproduksi sebuah narasi kuratorial, dalam pameran �LINKAGE: 20th OHD Museum�. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa, kurator sebagai sender, tidak hanya menggunakan teks saja sebagai sebuah kode untuk menyampaikan pesan ke penonton (receiver). Namun, kurator juga mengandalkan kehadiran fisik karya seni, untuk menyampaikan pesan. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa, kerja kuratorial di sebuah pameran dalam memproduksi narasi kuratorial tidak hanya mengandalkan teks kuratorial saja, tetapi juga visual kuratorial. Kemudian, hasil antara teks kuratorial dan visual kuratorial dalam pameran ini sudah sesuai atau berhasil selaras, dan dapat dilihat dalam langkah-langkah praktik kerja kuratorial yang sudah sesuai, runtut, berkesinambungan dan saling berkaitan satu sama lain.

In building and managing a museum, the most important thing is not only to maintain and preserve the collection. Understanding the objects of museum collections in their socio-cultural context and making maximum use of the collections is important so that museum collections can live and be relevant as objects of knowledge. The discourse in this study will raise the question of how the curator creates a curatorial narrative of the collection in the temporary exhibition (LINKAGE: 20th OHD Museum) at the OHD Museum, where the curator's work practice shows the use of collections as objects of knowledge. Through this research, we can see how curators have different responsibilities and spheres, seen from the division of types of In-House Curator and Guest Curator at the OHD Museum. Then, see the role and working relationships of curators in a museum. Then, referring to the Curatorial Communication Process (CCP) theory put forward by Paco Barragan, this research will dissect through what curators produce a curatorial narrative, in "LINKAGE: 20th OHD Museum" exhibition. The results of this study indicate that the curator as a sender does not only use text as a code to convey a message to the audience (receiver). However, curators also rely on the physical presence of the artwork, to convey the message. This shows that curatorial work at an exhibition in producing curatorial narratives does not only rely on curatorial texts, but also curatorial visuals. Then, the results between the curatorial texts and curatorial visuals in this exhibition are in accordance or successfully aligned, and can be seen in the steps of curatorial work practices that are appropriate, coherent, continuous, and interrelated with each other.
