Penelitian ini menjelaskan negosiasi seni dan terapi dalam ekosistem ruang terapi seni untuk meningkatkan komunikasi anak autis. Lebih lanjut, penelitian ini menjelaskan ekspresi artistik dan estetik dari proses kreatif hingga hasil lukisan anak autis sebagai ekosistem terapeutik. Kedua tujuan tersebut terbingkai dalam sudut pandang empati, sebagai modal utama dalam pengonstruksian ruang terapi seni, jenis pendekatan dan pendidikan di dalamnya, dan evaluasi dari karya anak autis. Pendekatan dalam penelitian menggunakan studi kasus terhadap anak autis asperger syndrome yang berusia 8-15 tahun. Objek formal berupa proses terapi seni anak autis dalam ruang empati, sedangkan objek material berupa hasil lukisan anak autis. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode campuran dengan memanfaatkan observasi, wawancara, studi kepustakaan, dan eksperimen terhadap perancangan ekosistem terapi seni bagi anak autis. Batasan temporal penelitian terletak pada dokumentasi perkembangan anak autis yang meliputi rapor pendidikan dan karya anak autis pada tahun 2012-2021. Hasil penelitian ini mewacanakan istilah seni autisme sebagai representasi dari kompleksitas hasil karya anak autis. Seni autisme mempertimbangkan kolaborasi kognitif sekaligus membuka potensi terapeutik yang ada di dalamnya baik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif, intelektual, maupun komunikasi melalui kolaborasi empati sebagai dialog interdisiplin. Seni autisme, baik melalui kegiatan, dokumentasi, maupun pameran berjalan sebagai rangkaian ekosistem empati sebagai rangkaian ekosistem terapeutik seni ruang empati. Dengan kolaborasi dari pendidikan seni ekspresif dan child-led approach, yang dimulai dari proses, dokumentasi/portofolio, dan pameran, semuanya bermuara pada ekosistem empati. Analisis dan interpretasi publik atas aspek artistik dan estetik dalam seni autisme menjadi trajektori ekosistem empati. Dengan implementasi konsep ekosistem terapeutik seni ruang empati, maka dokumentasi/portofolio, pameran, galeri, dan museum menjadi ruang empati dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi anak autis melalui seni autisme.

This study describes the negotiation of art and therapy in the ecosystem of the art therapy space to improve communication for children with autism. Furthermore, this study explains artistic and aesthetic expressions from the creative process to the paintings of children with autism as a therapeutic ecosystem. Both goals are framed in the point of view of empathy as the main capital in the construction of the art therapy space, the type of approach and education, and the evaluation of the art of autism. The approach in this research uses a case study of children with autism (asperger syndrome) aged 8-15 years. The formal object is the art therapy process for children with autism in an empathy space, while the material object is the painting of children with autism. Data was collected using mixed methods by utilizing observations, interviews, literature studies, and experiments on designing an art therapy ecosystem for children with autism. The temporal limitation of the study lies in the documentation of the development of children with autism, which includes educational reports and work of children with autism in 2012-2021. The results of this study discuss the term "the arts of autism" as a representation of the complexity of the work of children with autism. The art of autism considers cognitive collaboration and unlocks the therapeutic potential to improve cognitive, intellectual, and communication abilities through empathetic collaboration as an interdisciplinary dialogue. The arts of autism, whether through activities, documentation, or exhibitions, are presented in empathy space art therapeutic ecosystem as a series of empathy ecosystems. Expressive arts education is integrated into an empathy ecosystem through documentation/portfolios, and exhibitions. The public analysis and interpretation of artistic and aesthetic aspects of the arts of autism follow the empathy ecosystem's trajectory. With the implementation of the empathy space art therapeutic ecosystem concept, documentation/portfolios, exhibitions, galleries, and museums become spaces of empathy in improving the communication skills of children with autism through autism art.
