Musik emo adalah salah satu musik populer yang memiliki karakteristik lirik yang mengangkat tema-tema personal seperti kesedihan dan kekecewaan terhadap diri sendiri. Redupnya musik emo disebabkan oleh pengaruh dari industrialisasi. Skripsi ini berjudul "Musik Emo dalam Perspektif Industri budaya Theodor W. Adorno" bertujuan untuk membahas lebih lanjut mengapa musik emo bisa kehilangan popularitasnya. Penggunaan perspektif Theodor W. Adorno mengenai industri budaya untuk melihat fenomena tersebut, diharapkan mampu memberikan penjelasan lebih lanjut mengenai dampak industrialisasi musik emo. Penelitian ini merupakan bidang filsafat sosial yang memuat musik emo sebagai objek material yang ditinjau dengan objek formal industri budaya dengan perspektif Theodor W. Adorno. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi pustaka dengan menggunakan pendekatan sistematis-reflektif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah hermeneutika filosofis, Unsur-unsur metodis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah interpretasi, koherensi, heuristik, holistik, serta deskripsi. Penelitian ini memperoleh dua hasil: Pertama, pemahaman mengenai pengaruh industrialisasi budaya terhadap musik emo yang membuat musik emo yang populer menjadi redup. Kedua, musik emo mengalami standardisasi, massifikasi, dan modifikasi oleh industri guna menukar nilai-guna menjadi nilai- tukar.

Emo music is popular music that has lyrical characteristics that carry personal themes such as sadness and self-disappointment. Emo music losing its popularity is thought to be due to the influence of industrialization. This thesis entitled "Emo Music in the Perspective of Cultural Industry Theodor W. Adorno" aims to further discuss why emo music can lose its popularity. The use of Theodor W. Adorno's perspective on the cultural industry to see this phenomenon is expected to provide further explanations about the impact of the industrialization of emo music. This study uses the field of social philosophy which includes emo music as a material object which is reviewed by the formal object of the cultural industry with the perspective of Theodor W. Adorno. This research is a literature study using a systematic-reflective approach. The research method used is philosophical hermeneutics. The methodical elements used in this study are interpretation, coherence, heuristics, holistic, and description. This study obtained two results: First, an understanding of the influence of cultural industrialization on emo music which makes popular emo music not popular. Second, emo music has undergone standardization, massification, and modification by the industry in order to convert use-values into exchange-values.
