The Sunflower Student Movement (SSM) is a movement which emerged to oppose the legalization of economic cooperation between Taiwan and China, namely the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement (CSSTA) by the Kuomintang Party (KMT) as the ruler of the Taiwan government through a legislative body which is considered undemocratic. For this reason, student groups, civil society, as well as non-governmental organizations took to the streets to hold demonstrations, even occupying the executive and legislative offices of Taiwan. This action became known as SSM as a form of resistance movement against the non-democratic attitude of the Taiwanese Government with demands for a review of CSSTA and government transparency. By using the tipping, timing and framing approach of Lisa Baldez, I found that the emergence of SSM and the participation of the wider community in it - which is the tipping aspect - arises because of the timing aspect with the phenomenon of undemocratic CSSTA approval. Besides, the framing aspect can be traced with the enchase of this phenomenon by movement initiator, with the possibility of increasing Beijing's influence over Taiwan that will influence the future of Taiwanese people.
