Servatius Subhaga: Potret Imam Putra Sulung Bali (1938-2019) (Naskah Film Dokumenter)

Penelitian ini membahas biografi Servatius Subhaga yang meliputi perjalanan hidup dan pemikiran inkulturasi dalam periode 1938-2019. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perjalanan hidup Servatius Subhaga sebagai orang Bali pertama yang ditahbiskan sebagai imam hingga mencapai usia 50 tahun imamat merupakan sebuah momentum sejarah bagi Gereja Katolik Keuskupan Denpasar. Ia juga menggagas pemikiran inkulturasi yang menjadi dasar pengembangan Gereja Katolik Keuskupan Denpasar. Di samping itu, belum banyak kajian yang mendalami perjalanan hidup dan pemikiran inkulturasi oleh Servatius Subhaga. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian sejarah dengan menggunakan sumber primer dan sumber sekunder. Sumber primer meliputi wawancara, foto, dokumen, dan majalah sezaman. Sumber sekunder meliputi film dokumenter, video, buku, dan artikel. Hasil penelitian ini disajikan dalam bentuk naskah tertulis dan film. Bentuk film dipilih untuk memperkaya media penulisan sejarah serta memanfaatkan melimpahnya sumber visual yang tersedia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perjalanan hidup dan pemikiran inkulturasi oleh Servatius Subhaga tidak terlepas dari pengaruh para misionaris SVD yang telah hadir di Bali sejak 1935. Hal ini menjadi inspirasi bagi Servatius Subhaga sehingga ia memutuskan untuk menjadi seorang imam. Dinamika riwayat pendidikannya semakin menguatkan tekadnya hingga ia menjadi orang Bali pertama yang ditahbiskan sebagai imam dan misionaris SVD pada 9 Juli 1969. Ia pun telah menjalankan karya pastoralnya di Paroki Santo Yoseph Denpasar hingga usia 50 tahun imamat pada 9 Juli 2019. Hal ini berdampak besar bagi perkembangan Paroki Santo Yoseph Denpasar maupun Keuskupan Denpasar. Selain dikenal sebagai "imam putra sulung Bali", Servatius Subhaga juga dikenal dengan pemikiran inkulturasi, yaitu upaya penyelarasan ajaran iman Katolik dengan kearifan lokal dan kebudayaan setempat (Bali). Ia mewujudkan pemikiran inkulturasi ini dalam dua aspek, yaitu aspek arsitektur gereja dan aspek drama tari kolosal. Pemikiran inkulturasi ini merupakan warisan penting Servatius Subhaga yang berdampak positif bagi perkembangan Gereja Katolik Keuskupan Denpasar.

This research discusses the biography of Servatius Subhaga which includes the life journey and thoughts of inculturation in the period 1938-2019. This was motivated by the life journey of Servatius Subhaga as the first Balinese who was ordained as a priest until he reached the 50 years of priesthood, become a historical moment for the Denpasar Diocese Catholic Church. He also initiated the thoughts of inculturation which become the foundation for the development of the Denpasar Diocese Catholic Church. Furthermore, there have not been many studies that have explored Servatius Subhaga's journey of life and thoughts of inculturation. The method in this research is a historical research method using primary and secondary sources. Primary sources include interviews, photographs, documents, and contemporary magazines. Secondary sources include documentaries, videos, books, and articles. The results of this study are presented in the form of a written script and film. The form of film was chosen to enrich the media for writing history and take advantage of the abundance of visual sources available. The results of this study indicate that the life journey and thoughts of inculturation by Servatius Subhaga cannot be separated from the influence of SVD missionaries who have been present in the Dutch East Indies, especially in Bali since 1935. This became an inspiration for Servatius Subhaga so that he decided to become a priest. The dynamics of his educational history strengthened his determination so that he became the first Balinese to be ordained as a priest and SVD missionary on July 9, 1969. He has also carried out his pastoral work at Saint Joseph Parish in Denpasar until the 50 years of priesthood on July 9, 2019. This has had a major impact on the development of the Saint Joseph Parish in Denpasar and the Denpasar Diocese. Apart from being known as the "Balinese eldest priest", he is also known for his thought of inculturation, which is an effort to harmonize the teachings of the Catholic faith with local wisdom and culture (Bali). He embodies these thoughts of inculturation in two aspects, namely aspects of church architecture and aspects of colossal dance drama. These thoughts of inculturation are important legacies of Servatius Subhaga which has a positive impact on the development of the Denpasar Diocese Catholic Church.
