Narrative Review: Potensi Efek Antioksidan Produk Kombinasi Herbal S

Dewasa ini, tren penggunaan produk herbal di masyarakat semakin meningkat. Mayoritas masyarakat memilih pemakaian produk herbal sebagai alternatif dari penggunaan obat sintetik karena dinilai lebih aman serta ekonomis. Produk Kombinasi Herbal S merupakan salah satu produk herbal yang kini telah beredar luas di pasaran. Produk ini diformulasi dari 39 bahan alam terdiri dari buah, sayur, rempah, dan herbal terpilih. Pengujian mengenai aktivitas antioksidan Produk Kombinasi Herbal S sendiri belum pernah sama sekali dilakukan. Padahal, adanya potensi efek antioksidan pada produk dapat berkorelasi terhadap peningkatan sistem imun tubuh sehingga dapat mendukung klaim manfaat yang disebutkan pada produk. Antioksidan dapat mencegah peroksidasi lipid pada membran sehingga dapat mencegah penurunan fluiditas membran sel dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan limfosit dalam merespon zat asing yang dapat menyerang tubuh. Oleh karena itu, untuk mengkaji adanya potensi efek antioksidan pada Produk Kombinasi Herbal S maka disusunlah kajian berbasis narrative review ini. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan narrative review yang memberikan gambaran kemungkinan adanya potensi efek antioksidan dari Produk Kombinasi Herbal S yang dikaji berdasarkan aktivitas antioksidan hasil fermentasi formula herbal dari produk yang dilihat dari kandungan fenoliknya. Penyusunan narrative review ini terdiri dari pencarian artikel, seleksi artikel, serta merangkum data setiap herbal pada artikel untuk proses interpretasi. Digunakan sebanyak 83 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi serta relevan terhadap kajian yang dilakukan. Artikel diakses melalui berbagai database yang tersedia secara online seperti Google Scholar, Scopus, dan Science Direct dengan kata kunci pencarian yaitu: (antioxidant activities + phytochemicals + nama latin tanaman) serta (antioxidant activities + phytochemicals + fermented + nama latin tanaman). Dari hasil interpretasi data, aktivitas antioksidan formula herbal serta dilakukannya proses fermentasi pada herbal-herbal tersebut memiliki kemungkinan dalam berkontribusi untuk memberi aktivitas antioksidan pada Produk Kombinasi Herbal S.

Nowadays, the trend of using herbal products in society has increased. Majority of people choose herbal products as an alternative instead of using synthetic drugs because of the fact that herbal could be safer and more beneficial. Herbal Combination Product S is one of many herbals which available widely in the market. This product is formulated from 39 natural ingredients consisting of selected fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The testing of the antioxidant activity of the Herbal Combination Product S itself has never been done before. In fact, the potential antioxidant effect of the product is predicted correlate to an increase the human body's immune system hence it can support the claim of benefit mentioned on the label of product. Antioxidant knownable to prevent lipid peroxidation in the membrane of cell so it helps to decrease the cell membrane fluidity and trigger the enhancement of the ability of lymphocytes in responding the foreign substances which could attack the human body. Therefore, this study is focused on examining the potential antioxidant effects of Herbal Combination Products S. This study used a narrative review approach which provided an overview of the possiblity of potential antioxidant activity of the Herbal Combination Product S which is examined based on it’s phenolic properties. The preparation of this narrative review consists of searching the articles, selecting the most correlated articles, and summarizing the data of each herb in the article for the interpretation stage. Total of 83 articles that relevant to the study were used to compile the review. Articles are accessed through various databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and Science Direct with the search keywords: (antioxidant activities + phytochemicals + Latin names of plants) and (antioxidant activities + phytochemicals + fermented + Latin names of plants ). From the results of data interpretation, the antioxidant activities of the herbal formula and the fermentation process in that formula have the high possibility in term of contributing to provide the antioxidant activities on the Herbal Combination Product S.
