Maskulinitas dalam Film Beauty and The Beast Versi Kartun Tahun 1991 Analisis Dominasi Simbolik Pierre Bourdieu

Penelitian ini berangkat dari film dongeng Disney Princess yang selalu menggambarkan perempuan sebagai sosok yang pasrah, pasif dan hanya menunggu bantuan dari laki-laki namun dalam film Beauty and The Beast versi kartun tahun 1991 hadir berbeda dari film dongeng sejenisnya. Film yang mengisahkan tentang si Cantik dan si Buruk Rupa ini kemudian menghasilkan rumusan masalah berupa apa maskulinitas dalam film Beauty and The Beast versi kartun tahun 1991 dan apa hasil maskulinitas dalam film Beauty and The Beast versi kartun tahun 1991 jika ditinjau menggunakan konsep dominasi simbolik Pierre Bourdieu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni metode hermeneutik dengan model penelitian mengenai masalah aktual yang dianalisis menggunakan teori dominasi simbolik Pierre Bourdieu. Unsur-unsur metodis yang digunakan yakni deskripsi mengenai dominasi simbolik maupun film terkait, interpretasi mengenai dominasi simbolik maupun film terkait, heuristika serta direfleksikan secara kritis oleh Peneliti. Sumber data primer yang digunakan berupa film Beauty and The Beast versi kartun tahun 1991 serta buku Pierre Bourdieu mengenai Dominasi Maskulin dan Distingsi. Inventarisasi data dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan sumber yang berkaitan dengan objek formal berupa dominasi simbolik maupun objek material berupa film Beauty and The Beast versi kartun tahun 1991. Hasil dari penelitian ini terdapat dominasi simbolik berupa maskulinitas dalam film Beauty and The Beast versi kartun tahun 1991 yang terlihat pada karakter tokoh Belle, Gaston dan Beast. Habitus, modal dan arena dalam hal ini menyebabkan adanya dominasi simbolik berupa maskulinitas salah satunya, menurut Bourdieu, kemudian muncul dalam adegan ketiga tokoh utama film Beauty and The Beast versi kartun tahun 1991. Belle, Gaston dan Beast memiliki habitus dan modalnya masing-masing kemudian bertarung pada arena sosial, budaya, ekonomi maupun simbolik sehingga menghasilkan dominasi pada pengkarakteran tokoh tersebut. Belle mendominasi desa dengan simbol kecantikannya serta mendominasi istana Beast dengan keberanian dan kepintarannya. Gaston mendominasi desanya dengan simbol kejantanan berupa ototnya begitu pula dengan Beast yang mendominasi istananya dengan simbol kejantanan tersebut.

This research departs from the fairy tale of the Disney Princess which always portrays women as surrender, passive and just waiting for help from men, but in the 1991 version of Beauty and The Beast the film is different from the same kind of fairy tale film. The film, which tells the story of the Beauty and the Beast, then produces a formulation of the problem in the form of a cartoon of masculinity in the 1991 version of Beauty and The Beast and the results of the analysis of masculinity in the 1991 version of the Beauty and The Beast films when viewed using the concept of domination symbolic Pierre Bourdieu. The research method used is the hermeneutic method with a research model of the actual problem analyzed using Pierre Bourdieu's symbolic domination theory. Methodical elements used are descriptions of symbolic domination and related films, interpretations of symbolic domination and related films, heuristics and critically reflected by researchers. The primary data sources used were the 1991 cartoon version of Beauty and The Beast and Pierre Bourdieu's book on Masculine Domination and Distinctions. Data inventory is done by gathering sources related to formal objects in the form of symbolic domination and material objects in the form of cartoon versions of Beauty and The Beast in 1991. The results of this study are symbolic dominance in the form of masculinity in the 1991 cartoon version of Beauty and The Beast seen in Belle, Gaston and Beast characters. Habitus, capital and arena in this case led to the existence of symbolic domination in the form of masculinity, one of which, according to Bourdieu, later appeared in the scenes in the 1991 cartoon version of the main characters Beauty and The Beast. Belle, Gaston and Beast had their own habitus and capital then fight in the social, cultural, economic and symbolic arenas so as to produce dominance in the character's characterization. Belle dominated the village with a symbol of her beauty and dominated the Beast palace with her courage and intelligence. Gaston dominated his village with a symbol of masculinity in the form of his muscles as well as the Beast which dominated his palace with the symbol of virility.
