Penelitian ini berjudul "Konsep Encoding/Decoding Stuart Hall dalam Film Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI Karya Arifin C. Noer". Film Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI diproduksi saat rezim Orde Baru berkuasa. Film tersebut didasarkan atas narasi resmi Orde Baru mengenai penculikan dan pembunuhan tujuh perwira TNI Angkatan Darat. TVRI menayangkan film tersebut setiap malam tanggal 30 September sejak tahun 1985 hingga 1997. Model encoding/decoding menjabarkan proses komunikasi dalam televisi melalui artikulasi momen-momen yang terpisah, namun saling berkaitan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membedah momen encoding dan momen decoding yang terdapat dalam film Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI. Objek material dalam penelitian ini adalah film Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI. Objek formal penelitian ini adalah model encoding/decoding yang dikenalkan oleh Stuart Hall. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis kajian kepustakaan. Data diambil dari film, buku, jurnal, dan karya ilmiah lainnya yang berkaitan dengan judul penelitian. Metode yang digunakan adalah sistematis-reflektif. Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi, koherensi internal, dan interpretasi. Hasil yang telah dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) pesan yang dikonstruksi selama momen encoding berbeda dengan yang dibaca penonton pada momen decoding. Penonton dilihat sebagai subjek yang aktif dalam pembentukan makna diskursus televisual. (2) Wacana anti-komunis digunakan untuk mengonstruksi pesan dalam film Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI. Posisi penonton dominan-hegemonik mendominasi pembacaan film tersebut. Melalui penonton ini, wacana anti-komunis terus dipromosikan.

This research entitled "The Concept of Stuart Hall's Encoding/Decoding in Arifin C. Noer's Treachery of G30S/PKI". The Treachery of G30S/PKI film produced when the New Order regime still in power. The film mainly based on New Order's official narration concerning the abduction and killing of seven army's officer. TVRI screened the film every night on the 30th September from the year 1985 until 1997. Encoding/decoding model elaborates communication processes in the television through the articulation of separated moments that is linked to each other. The study aimed to investigate the encoding and decoding moments in the movie. The material object in this research is the film Treachery of G30S/PKI. The formal object in this research is the encoding/decoding model introduced by Stuart Hall. This study used literature review. Data were taken from film, books, journals, and other scientific works that correlate with the study. The method used is reflective-systematic. The analysis in this study was using description, internal coherence, and interpretation methods. The results achieved in this research was as follows: (1) message that was constructed through encoding moment was different from that was read by the viewer on the decoding moment. The viewer was seen as an active subject in creating meanings of the televisual discourse. (2) The anti-communist discourse was used to construct message in the movie. The viewers dominant-hegemonic position was dominate in reading the movie. Through these viewers the anti communist discourse was promoted repeatedly.
