KEJAHATAN THE SILMARILLION DALAM PERSPEKTIF HERMENEUTIKA PAUL RICOEUR

Penelitian ini berjudul Kejahatan The Silmarillion dalam Perspektif Hermeneutika Paul Ricouer. Kejahatan merupakan bagian dari hidup manusia, kejahatan akan tetap eksis beriringan dengan kebaikan. Definisi kejahatan pun menjadi luas karena kompleksitas kehidupan manusia, mulai dari dimensi teologis, viktologi dan lain sebagainya. Setiap dimensi itu memiliki makna dan pandangan masing-masing atas kejahatan. Hal itu yang pada akhirnya membuat manusia bertanya tentang apa makna sesungguhnya dari kejahatan. Buku The Silmarillion karya John Ronald Reuer Tolkien merupakan novel yang mengisahkan tentang terjadinya ketamakan, kehancuran dan malapetaka dalam kehidupan manusia karena kejahatan. Cerita tersebut yang melatarbelakangi peneliti untuk mengkajinya. Melalui perspektif hermeneutika Paul Ricoeur, peneliti mencoba menganalisa makna kejahatan dalam novel tersebut. Analisa tersebut bertujuan untuk mencari sebab, sifat dan dimensi kejahatan dalam novel The Silmarillion. Objek material penelitian ini adalah makna kejahatan dalam buku The Silmarillion karya John Ronald Reuer Tolkien. Objek formal penelitian ini adalah konsep hermeunitika Paul Ricoeur. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis kajian studi kepustakaan. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder, yakni dari buku, jurnal dan karya ilmiah yang berkaitan dengan judul penelitian. Metode yang digunakan adalah refleksi filosofis. Sedangkan analisis penelitian ini menggunakan unsur metode deskriptif, interpretasi, kesinambungan historis dan deskripsi. Hasil yang dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut : (1) makna kejahatan dalam novel The Silmarillion bukanlah kejahatan yang dihayati sebagai tindakan kriminalitas, melainkan dimaknai sebagai mitos dan simbol sebagai bahasa untuk menerjemahkan pengalaman atas kejahatan. (2) Kejahatan dalam novel The Silmarillion muncul karena pembangkan terhadap tuhan yang mengakibatkan tumbuhnya ketamakan, keserakahan dan kehancuran bagi penganut kejahatan. (3) Proses manusia mengakui kejahatan melewati tiga fase, yakni proses manusia menuju kehendak, proses manusia menuju falibilitas manusia melalui simbol-simbol kejahatan dan fase manusia memaknai kejahatan melalui bahasa. The study is titled Kejahatan The Silmarillion dalam Perspektif Hermeneutika Paul Ricouer (The Evil in The Silmarillion in Paul Ricouer Hermeneutic Perspective). Evil is part of human life; the evil will keep exist along with the good. The definition of evil becomes broad because of the complexities of human life, from the dimension of theology, victology and etc. Every dimension has its own interpretation and perspective towards evil. This matter in the end makes human asking about what the real meaning of evil is. The book of The Silmarillion by John Ronald Reuer Tolkien is a novel which tells a story about the occurrence of greed, destruction and disaster in human life caused by evil. The story underlies the researcher to conduct a study on. Through hermeneutic perspective of Paul Ricoeur, the researcher attempts to analyze the meaning of evil in the novel. The analysis aims to dig up the cause, trait and dimension of evil in the novel of The Silmarillion. The material object of the study is the meaning of evil in the book of The Silmarillion by John Ronald Reuer Tolkien. The formal object of the study is the concept of Paul Ricoeur hermeneutic. The study uses library research type of study. The data collecting method of the study uses secondary data, which are from books, journals and scientific works that are related to the title of the study. The applied method is philosophical reflection. As for the analysis of the study, the descriptive, interpretation, historical continuity and description methods elements are applied. The results of the study are as followings: (1) the evil in the novel of The Silmarillion is not comprehended as the action of criminality, however, interpreted in myth and symbol as the language to translate experiences over the evil. (2) The evil in the novel of The Silmarillion appears because of the disobedience towards God which causes the arising of glutton, greed and destruction to the adherents of the evil. (3) The process of human admitting the evil goes through three phases, which are the process of human heading towards desire, the process of human heading towards human fallibility through the symbols of evil and the phase of human making sense of the evil through language.
